L.A. Lakers Riot - 6/14/09

On June 14, 2009, The fans of the NBA basketball team Los Angeles Lakers held a major riot around the city in response to their win in the championship finals series. It appeared to be one of the worst to occur after a sports game.

In here, I have an Incident Chart and the natal chart of Los Angeles, CA, attached. The natal chart includes transits for that day.

In the Incident Chart, we have Capricorn at the ascendant.

However, if we're looking for anything to do with sports, we go to the 5th House of recreation. Mercury is the ruler of this house and is in Gemini. So, it's posited in this 5th House.

Mercury here is square the Jupiter/Neptune conjunction.

Jupiter in hard aspect to Mercury is associated with grandiose thinking and carelessness in communication.

Neptune in hard aspect to Mercury is associated with one losing himself in a fantasy world. That is, he may think irrationally and have trouble thinking in line with reality.

The above was exactly shown in the riots that went on after that game. Many of those fans were drinking beer (as they threw empty beer bottles) and maybe doing other drugs, and alcohol & drugs fall under Neptune. The Jupiter-Neptune conjunction falls in the 2nd House, which is the house of possessions, and also intake.

A bit of the rioting that went on resulted in breaking other people's stuff and setting fires. Some places were even looted. Two of them were a Shell gas station and a shoe store.

For other people's possessions, we look to the 8th House. The Sun is the ruler of it, and Saturn, the ruler of the chart, is placed there, intercepted.
The Sun is posited in the 6th House of tenants, and its dispositor is Mercury, which is in the 5th House of recreation.

Here, we have:
Sun Square Moon
Sun Square Saturn
Sun Square Uranus
Sun Opposition Pluto
Sun Square Moon
Moon Opposition Saturn

These form two T-Squares

Uranus and the Moon are also intercepted, in the detached sign of Pisces, in the 2nd House.

The Sun Square Uranus shows the chaotic nature of the incident.

The Sun Opposition Pluto, Sun Square Saturn, and Moon Opposition Saturn here show the destruction of public property that occurred during the rioting, and the loss of money that resulted from it.

Also, Venus, the ruler of the 4th House of land, is conjunct Mars. This would indicate the fires that occurred during the rioting as Mars is the fiery planet.

Going back to the Jupiter-Neptune conjunction, Jupiter also rules this chart's 12th House, which is the house of drug addictions. With the conjunction to Neptune and square to Mercury, planet of the rational mind, I am convinced that excess alcohol consumption drug use played a major role in those peoples' behaviors that night and into the next day.

What do you think?
