Speaking of Brazil and Latin America, the region emerged as the world's COVID epicenter. Nations like Peru, Chile, Ecuador, Colombia and Mexico are in the top 10 countries with the most active cases and the 20 with the most overall cases. The US doesn't look good either with southern states like FL, TX and AZ in the past month, along with the entire country including my home state CA while the country had 3 straight days of 50,000+ new infections of COVID (Jun 30-Jul 3).

Trump Tries AGAIN To Bring Troops Home, Media SCREECHES

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HI5M52UaK9w

In a totally precedented move
the media
long the nominal enemy of foreign wars
has taken up a campaign against
the Trump administration's desire to remove American troops
from unnecessary foreign military entanglements.

Conversation about American foreign involvement
turns naturally to patriotism.

Knowing the way Brazilian politics can be, their president Jair Bolsonaro could be removed from power or impeached by the government, partly from his huge negligence for mishandling the COVID pandemic, Brazil is the world's worst hit (2nd in cases and deaths, but the impact there was greater than even in the USA) and the military has an interest in protecting the country from any danger to life and health of their people.

The Kalpa Vigraha
is a small crude brass idol
weighing about 47.10 gms
depicting a deity resembling the Hindu god Shiva
seated on one knee, a serpent's hood forming a canopy
above the head of the idol.
In the right hand of the figure was a circular weapon
perhaps the “Sudarshan-chakra” of Hindu mythology

“Dark Waters”:
Meet the Lawyer Whose 20-Year Fight Against DuPont
Inspired the New Film
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZDmovshipc
attorney Rob Bilott’s 20-year battle with DuPont
over contaminated drinking water in West Virginia
from toxic chemicals used to make Teflon.
The Environmental Working Group credited Billot with

“...uncovering the most heinous
corporate environmental conspiracy in history...”

and the issue of contaminated water from the plastics industry
continues to devastate areas across the country.
On Wednesday, the Environmental Working Group released a shocking report
about how toxic fluorinated chemicals known as PFAS
have been found in the drinking water of dozens of U.S. cities,
including major metropolitan areas including Miami, Washington,
D.C., and Philadelphia.
The so-called forever chemicals are linked to cancer
high cholesterol and decreased fertility
and they do not break down in the environment.
We speak with attorney Robert Bilott,
who has just published a new book titled
“Exposure: Poisoned Water, Corporate Greed
and One Lawyer’s Twenty-Year Battle Against DuPont.”
He is portrayed by Mark Ruffalo in the Hollywood film
“Dark Waters.”
We’re also joined by Tim Robbins, Academy Award-winning actor
and director, who plays Bilott’s boss
at his law firm in “Dark Waters.”

At the time of the Buddha
there were countless religious and spiritual teachers

each advocating a different spiritual path and practice
and each claiming their teachings were the best
and the most correct.

One day a group of young people came to ask the Buddha
"....Of all these teachers, whom should we believe?....”

"....Don't believe anything, not even what I tell you!..."
replied the Buddha
"....Even if it's an ancient teaching
even if it's taught by a highly revered teacher.
You should use your intelligence and critical mind
to carefully examine everything you see or hear.
And then put the teaching into practice
to see if it helps liberate you
from your suffering and your difficulties.
lf it does, you can believe in it....."

- Thich Nhat Hanh
