Your mum is 63 years old. You are not going to be able to change her really. Even less your granny. Best is to just ask your mother to do what she has to do, but stay calm or get away from wherever she is when things get heated up. You should just be there as a shoulder to lean on.

Well I told her that you guys agree she should detach from family drama if she wants to be healthy and she took it on board. She realises that no matter what she does her family members will always dump on her. When I told her they don't deserve to have her in the family and she should move away from the drama she felt much better. Thanks for your advice.

Option #1-- Mum detaches from her negative relatives.

Option #2-- Mum continues to be involved, develops the hide of a rhinoceros and learns to harden herself against untrue/unwelcome comments from relatives who take out their personal frustration on her. Another animal metaphor would be the duck who lets the water just roll off its back.

If Granny is sick and unhappy, hopefully all of her family members can pitch in to help but not take her comments personally.
