retrograde Mercury question?

What are the attributes of the retrograde Mercury?

I was reading that, whoever has it in his or her chart, and especially if it's in Pisces, musn't drive anything, as the natus is in a great danger then.

Can someone explain?

Thanks

I have mercR in sag (detriment) is 6th house...I have noticed a deep need for me to spend considerable time in contemplation... it is not that I dont enjoy being sociable, I do.... just that time alone is important....deep thinking has been a continuance for me. I dont have any problems with driving... no major accidents, just scarps in carparks from OTHER people..... I love reading though it took me a while to develop the concentratin needed...prob late teens....now i kind of have an addiction to books....however my asc in gemini and jup and NN are there too.

Don't believe everything you read, there can be lot of mis-information out there. To see when your mercury went direct, you can look up your 'birth day' in an ephemeris and count (day for a year) and that will be your age, when merc went direct

I have Mercury in Taurus retrograde. I've driven for over 40 years without mishap, except for 2 speeding tickets within 8 mins. when unexpectedly having to take my son to school (flat bicycle tyre) and driving through/back along our l-o-n-g (and deserted but for the hidden police control!) village road at 5 m.p.h. faster than the speed limit allowed, which my family has never let me forget.

I agree with Flea....we Mercury retrograders tend to 'contemplate' (lovely explanatory word:smile:) a lot in deep thought. I churn things over in my mind like the typical cow chews the cud. I can drive on 'automatic control' wondering how, consciously, I got to my destination, yet I AM aware of every danger on the road, from a waddling duck to a road hog.

Mercury retrograde in Pisces may show the tendancy to be so lost in thought that they can remove themselves completely from the world of physical manifestation. It may not see visible and adverse things coming/happening until it's too late to deflect from it.
A couple of e.g's.
I was travelling home from work by train one evening. The man opposite me was reading a music script (if that's the right word). He was 'unconsciously' conducting with a finger, his head moving in a slight swaying movement. Gradually, a tear moved down his cheek. All I could hear was the rumble of the train along the rails.
I thought of Mercury in Pisces.

A friend was travelling by train. Opposite her sat a man of oriental race.
As he got up to leave, he bent down and told her to take care because her husband was being influenced by a source not good for him.
I thought of (his?) Mercury in Pisces.
My friend had a 'wayward' niece of her husband's temporarily living with them. She assumed the psychic meant her. Within months she learnt that her husband was having an affair with a good friend.

That ability to 'consciously lose one's self in thought', albeit it in deep concentration or not, could be, but not necessarily is, fatal to a Mercury in Pisces, direct or retrograde, on an everyday level. Rationally, not all accidents are caused by Mercury retrograders or in Pisces. How many long haul freight drivers carry 'physical reminders' of their loved ones to remind them to drive safely? Yet Mercury in Pisces could be susceptible to the effect of intoxicative/alien substances, medication, etc., that could cause a mental 'loss of consciousness', 'sleep drowsiness/deprivation', 'comatised state' etc.etc., somewhat more than the other signs might be. This might offer a reason why what you read was stated as it was.

I just have to say, beeing a pisces-sun with mercury in pisces I can really relate to the examples above... Mine is not retrograde, and I'm thankfull for that.

(But I do drive well though! I'm very cautious in traffic. Maybe because I'm aware of this side of me, so I have to really focus and not think of anything else while driving!)

My mercury is retro in taurus also, and it does suggest an anlaytical frame of mind, especially whilst retrograde in childhood. Mine went direct age 19 and you can find the same age by using an ephemeris using day for a year method....
