Sorry, I don't like to bring political issues into this forum.

But this affects all Americans and their right to speak their mind.

It centralizes control and promotes censorship.

It's dangerous to everyone.

Why does Verizon want to control what you and I say to each other?
Are they afraid of Ideas?

Priceless, coming from Al-Jazeera. Muslim countries have very restrictive and official government censorship. I don't know what "people of color" has to do with anything, since everyone would be affected. Right now the only recourse would be the free market, where other ISPs will start and compete against those that are possibly restricting information. The "internet" is not owned by anyone in particular, and people will find a way around the major ISPs if it comes to pass, just as other major search engines have come to compete against Google.

Could be, mdinaz...
But I have serious doubts.

Everything is becoming (is already) centralized in large corporations.
Independent truckers are history.
Family farms are gone.
The media is totally controlled by around a half-dozen outfits.
Community banks? Find one.
Etc, ad nauseum.

And the funny thing is, Al Jazeera provides some of the best news coverage on the net, and an opinion column that discusses real ideas of varied persuasions.

Yes, everyone is affected. I suppose the focus on people of color is because they already have no voice.

...and in climbed the libertarians.

This. This is the exact reason I support the libertarian party. I may not agree with every last part of their platform, but they're the closest thing to my beliefs, and the only effective counterweight to the spread of fascism I've seen so far.

All the nutjobs climb in to talk about the libertarian party
Like me, for example.

Robert Hand produced 2 parts video in 2008 explained his and some professional leading astrologers their views on the cardinal square of Uranus in Aries, Pluto in Capricorn in particularly. I recalled him saying the Liberal Western society will become more restrictive with their approach while the Asian communist such as China becoming more Liberal. There is no lie, many professional astrologers such as those meeting at The Lodge in London regularly for exchange of astrological ideas and Mundane astrology.

I think you are confusing censorship with conversion. That is not your rights being infringed by the author's rights being protected. No one likes a thief who copies and pastes others' ideas, insights and thoughts without any kind of renumeration, the least of all being acknowledgement.

Second point, the first amendment has nothing to do with this forum or any other forum.

Authors themselves are far from blameless
Authors have frequently 'copied others' ideas, insights and thoughts without any kind of remuneration'
Authors have published 'others' ideas, insights and thoughts' that they have copied
- and without offering any kind of remuneration to the originator of those 'thoughts, ideas and insights'

Copying and pasting others' ideas, insights and thoughts
is fine
IF
making it blatantly clear that one is copying and pasting
by placing the words 'QUOTE' prior to the copying and pasting
and citing the source of the copying and pasting

BECAUSE

that's a useful way to disseminate/publicize
the 'ideas, insights and thoughts of others
'
while attributing to their originators
those ideas thoughts and insights

so
the fact that

Due to increasing censorship
we must on this forum cite all sources
because of copyright laws applicable online
and we are restricted to 100 word quotes
has much to do with not only this forum
but also any other forum

as an illustration:
for example at one time on this forum, quotes were allowed of far more than 100 words,
but due to increasing internet censorship laws/rules/regulations,
as I stated, we are now on this forum restricted to 100 word quotes

UNLESS THE WORK OR TEXT THAT IS BEING QUOTED IS ALREADY IN THE PUBLIC DOMAIN

QUOTES
sourced from Wikipedia
:

'.....Concentration of media ownership
(also known as media consolidation or media convergence)
is a process whereby progressively fewer individuals or organizations control increasing shares of the mass media.
Contemporary research demonstrates increasing levels of consolidation,
with many media industries already highly concentrated and dominated by a very small number of firms.

Globally
large media conglomerates include

Viacom, CBS Corporation, Time Warner, News Corporation, Bertelsmann AG, Sony, Comcast, Vivendi,
Televisa, The Walt Disney Company, Hearst Corporation, Organizações Globo and Lagardère Group......'

'.....As of 2012
The Walt Disney Company is the largest media conglomerate in the US,
with News Corporation, Time Warner and Viacom ranking second, third and fourth respectively

In nations described as authoritarian by most international think-tanks
and NGOs like Human Rights Watch (China, Cuba, Russia),

media ownership is generally something very close to
the complete state control over information in direct or indirect ways (see Gazprom Media)......'

'.....Concern among academia
rests in the notion
that the purpose of the first amendment to the US constitution

was to encourage a free press as political agitator
evidenced by the famous quote from US President Thomas Jefferson,

"The only security of all is in a free press.
The force of public opinion cannot be resisted when permitted freely to be expressed.
The agitation it produces must be submitted to.
It is necessary, to keep the waters pure."
Freedom of the press has long been combated by large media companies,
but their objections have just as long been dismissed by the supreme courts.....'

The Moment Cops Realized This Cameraman Would NOT BACK DOWN :)

There are a plethora of stories each and every week exposing corruption in police departments
- local as well as federal organizations. These are only the ones that are reported.
How many situations involving cops
& their connection to criminal activity remain hidden from the public?
That's why it's so dang important to record them every chance you get.

Big Nick does just that and he will not let them intimidate him. Here's the original video.
