The "free will" factor, the part that allows one to individuate/develop the cognitive functions of ones type - like how some people are said to only have facility with their dominant function, and only partial mastery over their secondary vs. someone who has been able to develop their tertiary function, and use the inferior function's door to the unconscious to evolve the personality during times of great crises and "dark nights of the soul". Creating a more formidable and flexible personality.

what's so annoying though, is that even though I understand the cognitive functions, I still don't know my dominant one

I know I'm an intuitive, so Ni or Ne could be my hero or parent function

But feeling and thinking functions I have no idea...

Maybe Jung's entire framework is just hokey.. or the idea that there's a cognitive stack is wrong... Or I just don't know myself that well.
