The planets and gemstones

The planets and gemstones (7 traditional planets, and 2 lunar nodes - Rahu and Ketu in Vedic astrology) is an interesting topic I want to discuss. I would think 3 more gemstones for Uranus, Neptune and Pluto exist, since each month of the 12-month calendar year has a gemstone. For Aquarians like myself, Amethyst is my birth stone or stone for Aquarians, who are ruled by the planet Uranus.

AYURVEDIC ASTRO-TRIDOSHA ALLOCATIONS

The following are the dosha affinities of signs and planets according to Ayurvedic medicine. Although connected with the sidereal (constellational) zodiac used in Vedic astrology, these could be equally applied to our tropical signs for practical purposes.

ZODIACAL

Aries = Pitta
Taurus = Kapha
Gemini = Vata
Cancer = Kapha
Leo = Pitta
Virgo = Vata
Libra = Vata
Scorpio = Pitta
Sagittarius = Pitta
Capricorn = Vata
Aquarius = Vata
Pisces = Kapha

PLANETS (traditional)

Sun = Pitta
Moon (in general without regard to phase) = Kapha
Mercury = Vata
Venus = Kapha
Mars = Pitta
Jupiter = Kapha
Saturn = Vata

PLANETS (modern additions)

Uranus = Vata
Neptune = Kapha
Pluto = Pitta

MOON PHASES (+ the Lunar Nodes)

Waxing (day of the New Moon until day before the Full Moon) = Vata+Kapha
Full (day of Full Moon) = Pitta+Kapha
Waning (day following Full Moon until day before New Moon) = Kapha

North Node ("Rahu"; "Dragon's Head") = Vata
South Node ("Ketu"; "Dragon's Tail") = Pitta
The following is a list of gems and stones affinitive to the 3 element classification (Tridosha) used in Ayurvedic Medicine and also in Vedic Astrology (jyotish) These affinities are based partly on my own studies and partly on information given me by Jaimini jyotishi adepts at Ponmudi forest, Kerala, India...

Speaking of gemstones and their colors, the 4 element sign groups have their own: Fire has hues of red or pink, Earth is orange or brown, Air is yellow or green, and Water is blue or purple. And the 3 nature sign groups: Cardinal has white, Fixed has gray or silver, and Mutable has black. An Aquarius would like to have a gemstone or two with the colors green-yellow and gray or silver.
