Hello everyone,

I am very much a newbie in astrology and there are a lot of resources in the internet, it's a bit overwhelming. I hope that this topic will also help other Astrology beginners like me.

1. What is your first book in Astrology? Do you recommend it to beginners?

2. If not, what books do you think should we read to have strong foundations on the basics of astrology?

3. What other essential books do you recommend as learners advance through their studies in astrology?

4. Books for predictions, transits, horary, solar returns, progressions, astrocartography etc. ?

5. What other resources/websites would you like to add? Any other tips?

I also found threads with a similar topic:

Thank you in advance for your answers. :)

This is a list I got from Isaac Starkman (chief editor of Astrodatabank, he's rectified 2k+ charts)

Pasting his e-mail:

Hi,

Here are some of the books that I have found helpful:

Charles Carter- all his books!

Ronald Davison- Astrology (a small book but high quality)

Robert Hand- Horoscope Symbols

Stephen Arroyo- all his books

Dennis Elwell- Cosmic Loom

Cyril Fagan- all his books

Martin Gansten- Primary Directions

Margaret Millard- The Genetics of Astrology

Dean- Recent Advances

Dean- Tests of Astrology

Astrology Under Scrutiny

Makransky- Primary Directions
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Some books are not for beginners though. If you're a beginner, I'd recommend, Hand, Carter, and Arroyo.

Good Luck!

If you are a beginner in Astrology like myself, then

Introduction to Traditional Natal Astrology by Charles Obert

is a good book to start.

-Thank you very much for all these resources! I'm not sure I'll be able to read them all or if my brain could actually take them, lol. Because English is not my native language, but once I get a grasp of the very basics and is looking for depth, I'll be looking back at these.

-I browsed VETTIUS VALENS THE ANTHOLOGY and I was wondering what those numbers and letters in bold mean. For example /2K/ or /210P/. Should I just ignore them?

-I'm not sure if you're aware but the preview of the table of contents is not working but I was able to see it through Wayback Machine.

Thank you very much!
