I Saturn conjunct Jupiter in the 10nth house and I'm super confused by this. It's just that they have completely different interpretations. Does anyone have any ideas about this?

Jupiter takes 12 years to orbit the Sun
and Saturn takes 30 years to orbit the Sun
and
during their respective orbits of the Sun
Jupiter and Saturn are in conjunction only approximately every 20 years

so it's fairly unusual

due to retrogradation 1980's there were three Jupiter Saturn conjunctions
i.e.
31 December 1980 at 09LI30
4 March 1981 at 08LI06R
24 July 1981 at 04LI56

the most recent Jupiter Saturn conjunction was on
28 May 2000 at 22TAU

next Jupiter Saturn conjunction is
2020 at 00AQ29

The natal chart shows and out of sign conjunction
HOWEVER
using WHOLE SIGN HOUSES
removes the ambiguity of two different signs in the same house
BECAUSE

House location of a natal planet can change,
dependent on the house system chosen
easily verify that fact at astro.com's Extended Chart Selection Page
there, fourteen of the more popular house systems currently in use are available options
Placidus is simply the default
to view for yourself how that works in practice
create your natal chart using Whole Sign Houses option
then compare with the same natal chart using the Placidus option

Whole Sign House ascendant sign becomes the whole first house
and the other houses follow.
The ASCENDANT POINT ITSELF can then fall anywhere in the first house
and
MIDHEAVEN POINT anywhere in the upper half of the chart

There are at least twenty or thirty different house systems
or means of dividing the so-called "birthchart"
into twelve segments of life activity.
In astrology, houses, mansions, or domains
represent general areas of life activity
and are the grounding areas or arenas of expression for planets.
Originally, the words "houses" and "signs" were interchangeable.
A planet in the SIGN of Aries
was also a planet in the HOUSE of Aries
so that in effect houses as we know them today did not exist

Artificial divisions now known as houses
were attempts by early Greeks and Hindus to measure strength "points" in the horoscope
which during 7th and 8th centuries AD were construed
or confused
as means of dividing the birth chart.
The ascendant and midheaven degrees and their opposites were definite power points
or areas of intense focus
but not necessarily the beginnings of a house or quadrant

The Whole Sign House system was used by the ancient Greeks and the Hindus (who still use it today).
It is the oldest and simplest house system in existence
and immediately eliminates

the awful mess astrologers have made on the issue over the last 1300 years or so

Don't let the wise sages of the forum with their excess of knowledge dishearten your own desire to learn.:smile:

This could in fact be an example of how a Jupiter in Gemini might work.

Gemini is the sign of general knowledge, with Mercury as its ruler always gathering interesting information from all sides, from which to listen and learn. Compare it to the pupil.
Jupiter is the opposite. As ruler of Sagittarius it's the talker, the orator, the preacher, the 'know all' who specialises in a specific rather than general area, which it continually expands upon to increase and pass on its understanding and knowledge to all who are prepared to listen (it has difficulty with listening itself:biggrin:.) It may TELL you all there is to know about its favourite subject history, yet may falter if you ask where exactly Timbuktoo lies because it has never been interested in Geography or social studies. Compare it to the teacher.

Neither Mercury or Jupiter 'sit well' in the other's sign because each functions so differently. Gemini's mind doesn't take to specialisation UNLESS a subject truly interests it ; Sagittarius cannot be bothered with the trivialities that make up everday life.A t your age, you may find it hard to understand what your teachers at school are implying in their subject monologues, possibly because it is all theoretical (Gemini = air) of nature, which may not interest you. Yet if your Gemini side is prepared to listen, you could learn a lot. Jupiter working well in you.

Saturn in Taurus is an Earth planet in an Earth sign. Earth bases its perceptions upon the hard facts that physical and tangible reality shows it. It cannot deal with intangible thoughts and feelings because it isn't possible to physically see, hear, touch, taste, and smell what they are made of. At school it might tend towards those studies that provide structure through their practical nature, and that can be applied in the chosen profession.

Where Jupiter is the teacher, Saturn is the master of its craft, the authority which overides all others. With the two in the same house realm, yet in different signs, any student might first experience difficulty with one or the either before it finds a manner to combine the two. Gemini theory may be applied practically, or found to be lacking in Taurean fundamental values . Or, Earth's material structure may not be as important as one's theoretical/ spiritual beliefs.

Aspects to both planets and importance of houses ruled will provide more information.

Here Endeth today's sermon.:wink::biggrin:
