Does anyone here was born during or near a total solar eclipse? I was born on Feb 15, 1980 - a day before the TSE of Feb 16 (I was born in North America, but it was only visible in Northern Africa and southern Asia) in Aquarius.
There is a SAROS cycle (18.5 years period) of when TSEs occur and which ones are the longest or shortest in totality (the longest durations at 7 mins, the shortest at 2 mins), a different formula from the 19 year lunar phase cycle. :
The longest TSEs in recent times were June 30, 1973; July 11, 1991 (this one visible in Hawaii islands, USA and Mexico); and July 22, 2009, all in Cancer.
The shortest are July 30, 1981; Aug 11, 1999 and Aug 21, 2017 (visible in the mainland USA), all in Leo, the sign ruled by the Sun and opposite to Aquarius.
The Saros cycle based on my birthdate is Feb 26, 1998 and Mar 7, 2016, but they happen in Pisces and are within a short 2-3 minute duration of totality.
The next TSEs to mention here regarding the Saros cycle: Aug 3, 2027-longest in Leo; Sep 1, 2035- shortest but in Virgo; and Mar 17, 2034 - in Pisces.
