Dreams and Horary Interpretation

Someone asked about a dream they had in which their mother was ill, and their father, who has been dead for some time now, came back and got the mother and carried her out the door.

We can use Horary to interpret dreams and so I set up the chart below.

The Significators for Dreams are the 9th House and any Planets in the 9th House. In the even the 9th House is empty, look at the 10th House. If no Planets are in the 10th House, the look to each House in the following order:

1st, 7th, 4th, 3rd, 2nd, 5th, 6th, 8th, 11th and finally the 12th House.

Saturn and the South Node (which is the nature of Saturn) in the 9th House (or in the House you're using for signification if the 9th House has no Planets) generally indicate nightmares.

The cause of the nightmares (or dreams) can be determined by looking at the Houses which have Capricorn or Aquarius on the House Cusp.

For example, if no Planets were in the 9th House, then we would look at the 10th House. If no Planets were in the 10th House, then we would look at the 1st House.

Then, if either Saturn or the South Node (or both) where in the 1st House, we would look for Capricorn/Aquarius. If we found Capricorn and Aquarius on the 7th and 8th House Cusps, the we might conclude that the Querent feared that another person (perhaps their spouse) might die and that was the cause of the nightmare.

Aspects made by the 9th House Ruler will also give clues as to what the dream was about or the cause of the nightmare.

Planet(s) in good condition in the 9th House; or
Planets(s) in good condition in the 1st House; or
the Ascendant Ruler sextile or trine Sun, Venus or Jupiter

are indicators that nothing will happen and the dream will not come true.

So, let's look at the chart (and if you're not believer in Horary, this should convince you to give a second look).

It so happens that there is a Planet in the 9th House in this Chart, namely Mercury.

The Sun is above the Horizon, so this is a Day Chart and the 10th House Ruler and Venus signify the Querent's mother.

The 10th House Ruler is Mercury.

That's quite astonishing.

Also, since this is a Day Chart, the 4th House Ruler and Sun signify the father, and we see the Sun conjunct the MC and although it is physically in the 9th House, we would consider it to be in the 10th House.

Note that the Sun (the father) rules the 9th House.

We find Capricorn and Aquarius on the 2nd/3rd House Cusps. The 2nd House is the sixth house from the 9th House and the 3rd House is the 7th House from the 9th House. The Sun, ruler of the 9th House is in an applying opposition by Mutual Application to Jupiter ruling the 1st and 4th Houses, which are 4th and 8th Houses of the mother.

The 4th and 8th Houses signify death, the 6th House illness and the 7th House other people, and Mercury signifies the mother.

That tells the story of the dream, which is that the Querent is worried mother will take ill and die.

The Ascendant Ruler Jupiter does not make a sextile or trine with Sun or Venus, but the North Node is in the 1st House and Mercury, even though Cadent, Slow and Oriental, is in his own Rulership and Exaltation, in the Triplicity and Term of Venus and Face of the Sun, and is not damaged by any aspects from Mars or Saturn, so we can conclude the dream will not come true.
