Progressions: Retrograde, Stationary, and Directed Planets

Hi All,

I was hoping I could pick people's brains on the topic of planets in progression.

What happens when a planet goes from natal direct to progressed stationary retrograde, from progressed stationary retrograde to progressed retrograde?

What happens when a planets goes from natal retrograde to progressed stationary, to progressed direct?

What happens when a planet goes from a natal movement (either retrograde, stationary, or direct), and then progresses to another place, and then back to the original natal placement, during the course of a lifetime?

I understand the basics of a retrograde natal placement- the manifestation of the planetary energies is unique, neither good nor bad, just different, and often times more internally or privately expressed. I know it sometimes mean the course of action associated with the planet will be reconsidered by the native before it is acted upon. I know the progressed movement into direction suggests that the energies associated with the retrograde, reflected from past life understandings being brought into this lifetime, will be moved through and the person will experience a kind of transformation regarding these energies, causing them to be expressed in an entirely new way.

If anyone has specific examples, things they could point out, specifics about planets, that would be great!

Thanks so much!

I have a retrograde mercury that went direct age 19 and with hindsight it was a time of 'coming out of my shell' exploring the world, more socialising. I just came out of a fairly long term relationship, so was single and enjoying the status and attention that afforded, starting communicating with more people generally.

Now before this age, I was quite a quiet introverted teenager, not socially uncomfortable at all but just kept to myself. My home was like a train station too much activity (my parents were hoteliers) always something going on.

Now for mercury direct to progress to station or retrograde I would imagine the reverse to be true. Someone would feel less and less like socialising, perhaps reading more or keeping to themselves more. Preferring the inner richness that alone time can bring, I don't mean lonliness but an inner contentment sorta thing...

Hey A50!

Thanks for responding-- the anecdotes are always helpful. I have many retrogrades in my chart myself, all but Venus in fact, and some will be going direct in my lifetime, or have already. I'll write about that soon, but in the meantime, anyone who wants to know more about this topic, can find it here at this thread:

It is in the education board. I just wanted to really hear people's personal experiences.
