So for determining wether I was born at day or night in astrology could I go by sunrise/sunset or do I have to use am/pm?

unsurprisingly, the sun alone determines Day and Night
i.e.
if Sun is below horizon it is night
if Sun is above horizon it is day

My sun is below the horizon so I was born at night :) by 3 minutes. Yay! (This helps my theory along about Pluto only ruling Scorpio at night and Pluto is in my Scorpio)

I think people should go by there dominant planets sign or there dominant sign. People born at night I believe should at least go by there Moon sign over Sun sign as there Moon would be in theory stronger.

Apparent sunrise is different from actual sunrise
- and not just because of the Equation of Time
- I recall a thread where dr. farr writes
how he went out to view the sunrise
and it was eight minutes later than expected
- I then posted an illustration of the idea.
keep in mind that Sun is ninety three million miles away
and suns light takes eight minutes to reach earth

I looked up the sunrise for the hour and minute of the day I was born it was at 7:31 am and I was born at 7:28. The apparent sun rise could have been at 7:39 (still im born at night in either case).

reliability of birthtime requires verification

Nothing new under the sun
Beginners need to read some traditional and ancient astrology
which states
according to Vettius Valens THE ANTHOLOGY
http://www.csus.edu/indiv/r/rileymt/vettius%20valens%20entire.pdf
and is FREE online
If the chart is a night chart
then the nocturnal sect is in favour
and the Moon is the sect leader
and Venus and Mars are of the sect in favour
and if Mercury is an evening star
then Mercury too is of the sect in favour

ok the birth was timed to the minute with a stop watch, great

No but my mom remembers the minute. 7:28 I've asked her million times (she probably has it wrote down too). Mercury is in the sect of day (it was the first planet I experienced). Moon in day, Venus was in day, and Mars was at night.

[Side note my capy Mars(29) squares Venus (0) in Scorpio and sextiles my Mercury (29) in Scorpio. My theory is Pluto only rules Scorpio at night (my Pluto is 16 conj Chiron at 16) in Scorpio. I believe the first planet we experienced to be very important (mine is Mercury which is also my atmakaraka planet).]

I had someone redo my chart using events in my life and this odd method I'm sure you have heard of, and they got the same time.

Your birth occurred almost nineteen years ago
Your mom at that time was sedated as is customary for Western births
your mom probably did glance at a hospital clock on the wall AFTER your birth
but how long afterwards is not known
i.e.
your mom would have been focussed on her newborn, not on a clock
and would only have checked the time AFTER her newborn had been taken
by medical members of staff to be washed, cleaned, weighed and so on
for confirmation
just search youtube for videos of births taking place
there are many
it is not a moment when most mothers are checking the time

Mercury is in the sect of day (it was the first planet I experienced).

Far from being an odd method it is commonly used

My mom was very awake during the process she spent 12 hours in labor because she kept jumping of the bed to go use the bathroom at random times in the middle of the whole process. My aunt was also there the whole time.

Irrespective of the exact time as seen on a clock
your mom and your aunt then
can easily confirm whether it was night or day

Most rooms have windows

Most hospitals have three people call out birthtime. A nurse a secleted person in the room and a third person. Even so the time would have been called out later than I came out rather than earlier. My position on being born at night still then stands.

Not nineteen years ago when your birth occurred

of course
since then
one would assume that hospital protocol has improved
but not all hospitals necessarily have the same protocol
as has been explained to us members on these boards over the years
by various medical staff who are also members of our forum

Even so the time would have been called out later than I came out

Exactly - so your birth took place EARLIER
than the officially stated time of birth
it is commonly known that births occur at least fifteen minutes EARLIER
than the officially recorded time
My position on being born at night still then stands.
so check with your mom and aunt were there windows in the room

This is kinda funny, because once I encountered an opposition from a Christian that astrology does not work because the stars are light years away, so then they cannot have an effect on Earth. I responded if we go by modern physics and causal astrology, there is nothing faster than the speed of light, so their influence should also reach the Earth by their light, not their real place. Ofc I do not propose a causal mechanism, but that argument does not really hold up even against that. Astrology is topocentric at its core.

I think day and night is dependant on the Fire actually rising and setting over the horizon, not just the sky becoming brighter and the stars luminosity fading at twilight.
