Moon Sign For Surgery: Truth?

Answering someone's question about moon signs and phases for surgery got me wondering: what does it really mean if the moon is in the sign that rules the body part being operated on?

The conventional astrological wisdom is that you want to avoid the moon being in that sign. So if you're having surgery on the throat, don't have it during a Taurus moon, if you're having heart surgery, don't have it during a Leo moon, etc. But is that really true? Could the moon in the sign for the body part actually be a helpful factor?

Moon is a spotlight. Wherever it is, that sign, house, and any planet it's interacting with gets highlighted. So it seems to me that having the moon in the sign that rules the body part in question would simply highlight the issues with that body part. Which is what surgery is for.

Why wouldn't you want the moon in the associated sign, in that light?
