There's a flaw in the way the Constitution mandates Inauguration.

It should occur within two days of the official Senate confirmation of the Election results. I see no reason for the delay, unless it had to do with the slow pace of communication and transportation back in the 18th Century.

Trump has legally killed 10 people so far, and can kill a total of 13 before his term expires on January 20th.

I just read that attorneys for his planned victim tomorrow are trying to get the Supreme Court to intervene.

They can't change the inauguration date. That would violate the constitution. The 20th Amendment, ratified in 1933, says the president's term ends at noon on January 20th, and the new president must be sworn in at that time. It doesn't allow for any exceptions.

It was the 20th Amendment that changed the date from March 4th. To change the date again would require a new constitutional amendment.

No matter what the circumstances are, the president's term expires on January 20th. That can't be changed without a new constitutional amendment, which would take many months or years to pass. If there were no inauguration on January 20th, the outgoing president, who has been determined many times over to have lost the election fair and square, would not remain president. There would be no president at all until the inauguration happened.

Even if the incumbent president had been reelected, the term would still expire at noon on January 20th. At that time, he would no longer be president if he weren't reinaugurated. Either way, the only options are an inauguration at the expiration of the current president's term, or a gap in which the U.S. has no president. The constitution requires an inauguration on January 20th, for that reason.

Constitutional provisions can't be overridden just because someone says so.

The courts, including many presided over by Republican and Trump-appointed judges, have ruled many times over that there was no fraud.
