Documents were originally written on paper made from papyrus reeds, which is why viewing them is called "reading".

Digital viewing should be called "scanning", instead.

It's much easier to erase digital records and writings than to burn books!

Oh, c'mon, Oddity. Let's read some American history. You know about the Robber Baron era of American capitalism and government? [Mark Twain nicknamed it the Gilded Age.] Check out Standard Oil, big coal, the railroad monopolies, the steel industry, and their ilk ca. 1870-1900. In Canada, think about the Hudson's Bay Co monopoly.

Read up on the plight of Dust Bowl refugees in California in the 1930s.

You're old enough to have been talking about the military-industrial complex in 1970.

When were things different in past centuries?

Surely you don't believe in some romantic fable about Jeffersonian yeoman farmers.

I think Oddity reversed it: The problem is when government is in service to certain businesses and corporations and not others.

Maybe you are too young to recall all of the "cancel culture" that took place in the past. It went by different names, such as Jim Crow laws, legal discrimination against women, and gay-bashing. Cancel culture would have to include Donald Trump prohibiting transgender people from serving in the US military; not to mention his put-downs of women he found sexually unattractive.

You constantly try to silence even moderate political views. Heaven help any registered Democrats who stumble onto your posts. I don't think you get the cruel irony in your non-stop efforts to demonize Democrats as your own personal form of cancel culture.

I'd love to see some logic in your next posts. :wink:

Why do you think the Nazi regime, the Communist regimes & the autocrat regimes ALWAYS take 'control' of the communication/media first?

Here we have ALL the outlets aligning with ONE party (The Dems) to suppress ANY opposition. The 'book-burning' is the latest totalitarian tactic to stop free speech.

This is a LIE. I have NEVER tried to silence anyone about anything. I'm a big defender of FREE SPEECH. I have NEVER complained about the chat threads or what anyone has had to say. I WELCOME intelligent debate. However, I DO fight for Truth & I have every right to post MY beliefs just as you or anyone else does.

I don't call for people to be banned, censored or cancelled. You know, unlike that other popular forum where ALL Trump supporters were banned & you & the other Trump-Haters have NO problem with that.
