How to grow as a person based on astrology?

Hello all,

I have read interpretations of my birth horoscope, I read some books and even visited an astrologer. All of this pretty nicely described my personality but none of it provided guidance on how to grow as a person to have a better life.

Is there anything i missed, any literature that could be recommended? programs, specialists, webpages anything?

Thanks for the insights.

Has astrology shown you what is wrong yet?
Where are you trying to grow?
Where are you lacking in life?

Astrology can give validation to your struggles, and then you become aware and start asking and focusing on the right questions and issues, you'll be a better person..you won't be able to stop it.

Awareness is the first step.

How do I find out such things? I mean i read books and got interpretations of my placements but didn't really understand which parts are "bad" or "good". It's the kind of interpretation that are just descriptive: "you are like this because your planets is there in aspect to blablabla". I mean in fits, but doesn't move me forward in anyway ...

Hello pschutz,

i´m not an astrologer, but i think that your chart has some teachings for you.

There are some aspects that as far as i read can mean Karma , lessons or teachings.

You can start by taking a look at Pluto , Saturn , Uranus , Neptune , North node and South node , Chiron.
I don´t know much about Uranus and Neptune.

So let´s start by looking at your Pluto and see if you have any aspect to a personal planet , node or chiron.

------------------------------

Sometimes the struggles , hurdles , obstacles appear for you to mature when the planet is being transited.

Pluto is all about survivability , transformation and purification. In hard aspect like square , opposition or Conjunction can make that planet very intense and when that planet is not " ok " like moon, it can make you hungry for nurturing. Pluto wants to transform the moon by making you control and ACCEPT yourself .
Acceptance is key in pluto. When you learn how to " pluto" you may become a beacon and an emotional healer for others.
When you see other people obsessing , controling , jelous over others with alot of intensity it can mean that they are resisting change and pluto is trying to transform them, eventually they will get purified as no one escapes pluto.

---------------------------------------

With Saturn the lesson here is to escape chaos and create a solid foundation.
You should look into saturn´s house as it means you need to solidify yourself there.
Saturn in aspect to any personal planet can make you have difficulty to use that planet in a raw way .
Saturn represents authority , Hardwork , Sowing and Reaping in life , restriction.
A person may have an hard time expressing the planet in aspect with as saturn wants the expression to be structured. (restriction / limitation)
When you see someone with mars - saturn the person can have an hard time showing it´s agression and sexuality.
Later when this lesson is learnt, many will apply the security and structure that saturn has to offer.

-----------------------------------------------------------

With North node and south node you need to check your North node house.

The nodes are always in opposition. It is said that North node is the way you need to go in this life to find hapiness and the South node is what you already know and need to move on from.
You need to check the house of the North node and the sign.
North node is the lesson , it may be hard in the beggining but will bring you hapiness that south node cannot in this life. Staying in the south node can make you unhappy , and you will not grow.

-------------------------------------------------

Chiron is an asteroid.
Chiron means unhealing wound and you should check it´s house and sign and it will tell you where you feel " pain ". Accepting it and expressing it by healing others can make you mature yourself.
Chiron can have the same effect as pluto in healing ways and structure like saturn ( chiron was saturn´s son)

One free tool that helped me is the midpoint calculator at teachmeastrology.com
Make sure you use universal time

And really midpoint interpretations are better as you have an understanding of the major "complications" of your chart but as a read through, even without that knowledge, you will be surprised and it also offers advice/cautions.

To give you an idea of how it plays out for me:
I have Sun in the 10th inconjunct Saturn in the 5th. I experience a lot of limitation, not only in romance, but in my reputation and my ability to be present, and be seen in the light that I wish to be seen in.

So when I go to my midpoint interpretation, I look at the midpoint between Sun/Saturn. I see that it is at 27 degrees Virgo. What the interpretation also tells me is that my Venus, which is at 28 degrees Gemini, is forming a square to this Midpoint at 27 degrees Virgo. So as a result, the report tells me:

Sun/Saturn midpoint activated by Venus
A lack of self confidence in love relationships. One who appreciates the need for a careful and gradual attainment of goals. The tendency to think that one is less attractive and/or valuable than one really is. Appreciation of the deeper spiritual significance of life.

It is interesting because the more I focus on my physical appearance, the less my Sun/Saturn affects my life. 27 Degrees Virgo is also in my first house, so this is relating to the body.

The North Node and the Sun in your chart shows where you need to grow and dedicate your energies to in life.

Excellent question.

Do you want to post your chart?

Basically, the sun shows who you must be in order to be your authentic self. The sign shows how to go about doing that; the house gives your area of activity. This process may be easy and already mastered, or it may take a lot of courage, depending upon how your sun is aspected.

The north node of the moon shows where your personal growth lies. Oftentimes it lies beyond the person's comfort zone. By sign and house, see if you can push your envelope.

The MC shows your vocation in life. It may or may not relate to your paid employment. Look at the situation of the planet ruling the sign on your MC. Then see if you can incorporate more of these activities into your life.

Then also, what areas of your life would you like to improve? There's a planet for that. And a sign. And a house.

Well, you have a big interest in "occult" subjects, do you not, with that sun-Mercury-Pluto conjunction? It makes a big sextile to Mars-Jupiter, suggesting a lot of energy (Mars) on developing a life philosophy (Jupiter, 9th house planets.) This quest can occupy you for years to come.

Your north node in the Venus-ruled 4th house exactly opposes Venus conjunct your south node. This looks to me like a home-work conflict. Can you say what Venus means to you and how you experience it? If you have artistic ability (music, art, acting, &c) your chart may be pushing you into developing it. Whether you've had any lessons or not. The 4th deals with one's home, early childhood conditioning, ancestry-- and depth psychology. If your childhood home was a hurtful place, you can strengthen your NN by coming to terms with it.

A Libra sun strives for balance. Trouble is, once Libra finds it, s/he is apt to get bored. So finding a sense of balance that nevertheless involves some creative tension seems like a good idea.

You can look at this in a different way, however. What aspects of yourself would you like to develop?

You can become estranged from pleasure and misfortune, and become a soldier of fate. That was the religious experience that the old astrology offered.

Thanks a lot folks, I am getting the picture slowly.

@waybread: Thanks for your effort, your approach is interesting. I sent you a pm.

@PetoSiris: So, you say I should join the ISIS or what remains of AlQaida? :D

Anybody knows literature specificaly focusing on this subject? Personal growth via astrology?

Two books that I really recommend are Stephen Forrest, The Inner Sky and The Changing Sky. He is one of the few astrologers to take a dynamic approach to the horoscope, vs. looking at it like a static collection of personality traits. Lately he's become an evolutionary astrologer: if you're interested in more spiritual approaches you might find his more recent books of interest.

Another classic is Robert Hand, Planets in Youth (good for all ages.) Basically he coaches readers on capitalizing on strengths and minimizing weaknesses through an emphasis on planets in aspect.

Also: Choice Centered Astrology: The Basics by Gail Fairfied.

Interesting. I’m going to read some of these books. Thanks waybread!
