Natal astrology

I asked this before with no replies, maybe I was too disorganized in the way I asked so I'll simplify it. From what I've read and heard, for someone just starting out, Natal Astrology is where it's at. Do you all agree? If so why, and if not, why not?

Re: Natal astrology

Natal Astrology is probably the most important astrological practice.

If you can't read a chart, you can't do astrology.

Apparently horary is a good way to learn to read astrological charts
as it is simpler than Natal Astrology
and so
provides an opportunity to learn the basics easily

In fact Mundane Astrology supercedes natal astrology

and the following is explanatory dialogue from another thread
discussing weapons of mass destruction consequences at Hiroshima & Nagasaki

Taking a page from Avraham the Spaniard,
otherwise known as ibn Ezra,
one of the first things he tells astrologers is
that astrology does not contravene natural law.

He also explains that a personal chart falls under quite a hierarchy of other considerations.

From Nativities and Revolutions:

...The third way is the rule that comes from the effect of the Great Conjunction on each country.

Thus, if within the influence of the Conjunction upon the nations
war is supposed to befall a certain nation,
even if many of those born in it do not have an indication of death by the sword in their nativities,
when the time for war for that country comes, they will all be killed....

There's quite a lot more, but no need to quote all of it, one hopes
.
however Mundane astrology requires considerable study and practice

Obviously that would apply to any astrological chart
including horary, Mundane and so on ad infinitum

Re: Natal astrology

I don't think horary is easier. LOL I am hopeless at it.

I think natal is the best way to begin because you can start by looking at your chart and the chart of siblings, parents , partners, etc, and can learn by looking at charts of people you really know.

Horary astrology is of use if you want to know planets in a symbolical way and know more about their traditional meaning

I mean, it helps you understand the symbology that surrounds planets. Thinking about why say, Saturn represents old people, obscure valleys and where people have been buried might help you understand the rest of the modern meanings, such as lessons and karma.

Re: Natal astrology

Thank you all for your help. I will read up more on some things, and see where that takes me. I originally just wanted to know what it meant when the moon is in libra or trine whatever. That led me to some beginner books that focus on Natal astrology. I'm a bit overwhelmed but it's really interesting so I'll keep at it. Again, thank you.
