I have:

  • a regular band trying to expand its repertoire by ten cover songs;
  • a gig in a week and a half in Manhattan for which I need to learn nine original songs;
  • a gig on Thanksgiving for which I need to learn twenty covers;
  • just taken on a gig with a wedding band for which I need to learn upwards of fifty songs such as one might reasonably expect to hear at a wedding.

So I really should be listening to that stuff and not Neal Morse-era Spock's Beard, but I just need to clear my head out for a moment and remind myself that others are going through what I'm going through. Witness the protagonist of this epic..

CAUTION: hard hat area; here there be progressive rock... (four videos total)

Mohammed's Radio by Warren Zevon ~
It can be found on YouTube.
I reccomend the "Live at Whistle Stop" Jackson Browne show. Early 70's. A timeless message.
Nothing new under the sun.

...here's a treat...[I think so...IMHO...and all that rot...]

Jeremy Spencer FLEETWOOD MAC ~ "Preaching Blues/Doctor Brown" (Slide Guitar)

Derek Trucks - "Preachin' Blues"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBxoXlHHmpA

"Oh, I'm gonna get me a religion, I'm gonna join the Baptist Church
Oh, I'm gonna get me a religion, I'm gonna join the Baptist Church
I'm gonna be a Baptist preacher, and I sure won't have to work

Oh, I'm a-preach these blues, and I, I want everybody to shout
I want everybody to shout
I'm gonna do like a prisoner, I'm gonna roll my time on out

Oh, I went in my room, I bowed down to pray
Oh, I went in my room, I bowed down to pray
Till the blues come along, and they blowed my spirit away

Oh, I'd-a had religion, Lord, this every day
Oh, I'd-a had religion, Lord, this every day
But the womens and whiskey, well, they would not set me free

Oh, I wish I had me a heaven of my own
(spoken: Great God almighty!)
Hey, a heaven of my own
Till I'd give all my women a long, long, happy home

hey, I love my baby, just like I love myself
Oh, just like I love myself" [Son House composer]

...now, a whole different song...same title..same original band...different member...and a 2000 AD version...it's sooooooooo guuuuuuuhd!...uuuuUH!

The Blade Runner soundtrack, Esper edition. (A boot created by two fans for pleasure, apparently; it wasn't a licensed for-profit venture. I didn't know, just reading about it today.)
