Dear Waybread,
I am just like you and underline your " I've been reluctant to go too far on intuition" 100%!
My self-studies on The Art of Horary began several years ago with the issues of "The Traditional Astrologer". There you can read in the chapter of "Where is it?" some general rules for recovery and against recovery. For example, concerning the 10th house, if the 2nd-ruler is in the 9th or 10th, then it "shows the object (yes, I know, here it is a person and that is the problem ....!) is near the querent or is being kept by a friend".
That's for your question about the 10th house.
Now, I confess that I didn't work this chart very rigorously. Because, all in all, for me this chart isn't as valid as it seems to be only for this reason, that the question is asking too late - imagine, two years or so already ago! Perhaps Kristap has to put another question where it is shown her urgent of what she wants to know. Just my meaning.
I also suppose like Chrysalis, that knowing "the exact time/day she went missing, as this would be a lot more accurate than a horary" gives us more inside in this event.
Greetings
Sunny
