Grand Water Trine and Potential

My boyfriend has a grand water trine in his natal chart involving; the Moon in Pisces and the 5th house, Pluto in Scorpio and the 2nd house, and at the point of the grand trine is Jupiter in Cancer in the 9th house.

I understand the grand trine can indicate potential and to find what that potential is, you look to the planet at the point of the grand trine, it's sign and house placement (as well as house ruler), and it's aspects to other planets. To my knowledge, Jupiter in Cancer can denote cooking abilities. That is completely true in his case. He is an amazing cook and is currently considering becoming a chef.

On the downside, Jupiter makes a lot of square aspects (to the Sun, Mercury, Mars, and the Ascendant) causing set backs. He's had difficulty figuring out what he wants out of life, or to make any possible dreams a reality.

His 9th house ruler is Mercury, he has this planet in Libra in the 12th house. It's major aspects are; sextile Venus, and square Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.

Could any one offer more insight to this configuration? Many thanks.

Technically, since a Grand trine of any kind forms an equilateral triangle, there is no such thing as a `point'; there are actually 3 points, and each are equal in influence. A Grand trine is a closed sytem, where the energy flows from one planet to the other freely. Any planet in the trine which forms aspects with other planets on the chart will bring `something' to the way in which a person can use the grand trine.

A Grand Water trine usually grants a degree of naturally occurring creative/artistic ability, which it seems your bf has.

WEll and too Casey Anthony has a grand water trine. Sometimes it prevents an individual from learning as challenges are few. things come to easily...Of course it depends on what other aspects feed into the trine. It is good if there are some harder aspects feeding into it.
A grand water trine does give the native creative ability but will they use it? As things flow they may not have the umpf to do anything about it depending on their emotional state.

With Pluto in the mix it can lead to explosive emotional energy...

But in the case of Casey Anthony Jupiter can be a safety area protecting the individual and giving the person a bit of luck.

True, but hard aspects, either natally or by transit, alleviate a lot of that by lighting a fire under their butt that makes them get up and do something with the trine.

You might be thinking of a Grand Trine Kite, in the kite configuration one of the planets of the Grand Trine will be opposing another planet, that other planet will also sextile the other two planets of the Grand Trine. In this configuration you would look at the opposing planet to understand the potential of the configuration.

Grand Trines on their own can be lazy, but throw a hard aspect into that mix and it can act as a catalyst in utilizing that harmonious energy.

They never mentioned any kite.

...And I said this about 20 minutes before you did.

Sorry I worded myself incorrectly. I guess I was thinking about a kite but still the grand trine can offer potential. I should add that, yes, he is very intiitive and his grandmother said that when he was young he talked to spirits and she knew he was for sure because he described family members that had passed years prior to a T. He's very compassionate and seems to understand people very well. He is creative and he plays a gew different instruments.

Problem, he does not live up to his potential as his confidence is very low.
