Question about SR vs. Natal Houses

When reading an SR planet or point, do you read it in its SR house or the natal house (that it falls in when using a bi-chart) or both?

I'm confused at what I'm reading on the subject and am not sure if there are simply different opinions on the matter or both ways are actually possible and/or necessary.

What would be the difference between reading it in the SR house as opposed to the natal house?

Re: Question about SR vs. Natal Houses

Couple of things:
If you recall you can read the solar return as a stand alone chart this helps in your reasoning.
You look at not only where the planet is but what it rules. As an example, this year Taurus was on my solar Asc (this is my natal second) I find Venus in the 12th with the 12th house ruler Mars. This tells me something about the energy of health, ego and outward personality. It also tells me my health might be at risk being in the 12th. So both placement and rulership are significant.
Now Venus and mars together is a repeat theme of my natal chart. This tells me this is a fulfillment of natal potential and increases its importance in the chart.
Too you can look at how the natal and solar houses blend and what they tell us.
So as an example, what would it mean that my second natal house is in the first house position=ego focus on materialism and self-worth which fits to a tee as I have had to replace my furnace and airconditioner, had skin cancer on my face removed, lost a lover etc etc.thus these two ideas and themes blend.
Hope this helps.

Re: Question about SR vs. Natal Houses

Thank you for your help Gemini. The reason I'm asking is because I wanted to know about house rulership in a dual chart. Since all planets and points, both SR and natal, are in 2 houses, both SR and natal, do we then look at both house rulers, both SR and natal, equally?

Re: Question about SR vs. Natal Houses

No...you would look for natal planets in strategic points ie conjunct angles, solar return planets and solar house cusps. Basically this allows the natal energy to be released. You would want pretty close orbs of aspect. You always look at the most prominent planet (highest in the chart) natal or solar and any planet close to the angles but mostly 1st and 10th.

Re: Question about SR vs. Natal Houses

I was just about to post this question, and saw it already posted here.
The problem I'm having is the discrepancies in technique. Mary Shea says in a Bi-Wheel you use the SR as your base and set the Natal within it. However, Starlink says to use the Natal as the base which places the SR in the Natal houses. Which one is accurate?

For me the difference in interpretation seems huge.

Re: Question about SR vs. Natal Houses

SR are like a snapshot/photograph of just a 12month period from birthday to birthday.

The natal has ultimate importance as the master blueprint if you like. Personall I prefer to see SR with natal outside. It's the Angles Asc/Desc, MC/IC which are important along with which house natally the SR Asc falls in.

The house in which the Sun falls in the SR chart is the birthday month's forecast and influence, and each house after is the following month, since the Sun transits at the rate of one sign or house per month. Each house is treated as events in that month, and the sign and planet ruling the cusp influences the outlook for that month. The chart is used like a clock, with 12 months on its face instead of 12 hours. As the Sun conjoins or aspects other planets in the SR, it will generate events

N613, we are all visual people here and need to see charts?
Unfortunately --- No one can view attachments at the moment, although admin are trying to resolve matters -- so in the meantime try this ----

Everyone I think I've found a temporary solution to attachments. If you upload via your control panel and save to your album and then copy and paste the link into your thread --- this seems to work. Only slight problem you may have to trim the size down to fit ie: 600 x 600 in some kind of software or accessories/paint first.

Another idea (from eedwards) was to have two internet explorer windows open (but not full view obviously) and simply drag and drop chart from one window to another. Just remember to either (anonymize if posting a friends chart) and reduce to 63% in Extended chart selection

A member advised me of this ---
“I cast the chart on astro.com right, and saved it to the computer. Then I have an account on photobucket (which is Free) and uploaded it there. After it is saved there you can assess url, links to the pic. One is an "img" kind of link, you just copy and paste in the post, and after you have posted, it shows up as a chart there”

Thank you. I have another question. In looking at the 12 month period, do you read the months clock-wise or counter-clock-wise from the house where the Sun appears?
