When interpreting a natal chart how would you differentiate between a house and a planet which are similar in meaning. Example: Mercury vs the 3rd house.
Mercury stands for the mind, communication style, etc. Doesn't the 3rd house show roughly the same?? I realize the 3rd house stands for other things like siblings, early education, etc. But, in general when refering to the mind, in this case, it's confusing to me when trying to interpret a chart, especially if house and planet are in completely different signs.
Same goes for other houses.
How do you guys go about separating planet and house?
Thanks!
Hi I'm sorry you didn't get your question answered. I think it's because honestly no one here wants to admit they don't know either.
I've been trying to figure this out as well. It's pretty frustrating
The best way I can answer is like this... the 3rd house is where you can look at the actual practical experiences of how you communicate and where you express yourself for example... Sagittarius on the 3rd house, will go around their community speaking about their religious/spiritual beliefs. They may prefer speaking in church etc. The 3rd house is not so much an indicator about our intellect, unless Mercury is there too. Rather, it is merely the kinds of conversations we prefer to have in life. In Sagitarrius they will prefer to have spiritual conversations about philosophy and beliefs, but let's say their Mercury is in Capricorn in the 4th house, then the person communicates in Church and stuff because this is part of their family's traditions and reputation and they are more traditional than they are spiritual in nature. Or if this 3rd house Sagittairus has Mercury in Libra in the 1st house, then the person will have philosophical conversations because they believe other people look up to them and that they have spiritual authority in people's lives about what is a right/wrong way to live.
In contrast, let's talk about Mercury...
Mercury represents the fact that all humans are born with a set of lips, a larynx and vocal cords etc for the purpose of literal communication and verbal expression, regardless of where they choose to speak.
So someone with Mercury in Sagittarius thos is someone that is also philosophical maybe even religious, but you will only know this if they have Sagittarius on the 3rd cusp or if you ask them questions like "what do YOU think?" Because this Mercury in Sagittarius could have Virgo on the 3rd house cusp so they're not necessarily interested in talking about spiritual subjects to the world but if they do, it's for practical reasons. They would be more insightful about things like Yoga and healthy eating and know a lot about it because of their wise Sagittarius Mind.
Or if they have Capricorn on the 3rd house cusp, then rather than communicating about spiritual subjects because it's their family's tradition...they do it because it supports their own reputation and earns them money.
I hope this made sense. I would love to elaborate and have a more in depth conversation
