12th House Empty

I have found that my 12th house is really important in my life currently, that is I have a lot of activities and events relating to the 12th house issues, however, my 12th house is empty and I do not have ANY planets in Pisces!

I do have a number of planets in the 4th but they are malefic.

I would like a discussion on the 12th house in general.

My twelfth house is ruled by cancer, and my Part of Fortune indicates that this house is important in my life.

No Doubt! I seem to get the best help and support from doctors, or sun sign cancers, also spiritual groups. . . and I currently have a vigorous meditation practice.

12th house cancer: any thoughts on it? What would be a good 12th house cancer profession?

Do you feel benefit coming from your Mother at all? Since cancer is also related to the Mother?

My 12 is also a Cancer cusp.. and as hidden 12 house would have it, my mother declares me her open 'enemy.' Hopefully your experience is different!

ACTUALLY. . .that about sums it.

My mother helps me, but she is also my enemy. . personality wise she is severely mentally ill so she swings between paranoia/delusion/suicidal to more "normal" I don't live with her thank god, but her views of me are still something I am getting over about myself.

Interesting though that I have so much spiritual help right now. . . my 10th house from POF is this house actually, so it seems like anything in the area of death and cancer would be good for me HA HA HA!

(I always thought my mother was reflected in my debilitated 4th house moon in scorpio)

Wow, my mother is just about the same.. very mentally ill, and very abusive to me growing up.

When I became a mother myself, I decided I didnt want her around my son ... and she has grown very violent towards me. Even trying to take me to court, accusing me of anything she could imagine, to try to "steal" my son from me. Of course, she has no grounds and the court is in my favor here...

But if someone will openly threaten that they are going to 'take' your child from you when you least expect it.. thats an immediate S* list enemy! :surprised:

I still have negative feelings for her, but its getting better as long as I keep her at a distance. Whew..

I realllyyy feel for you over this! Its so bad when your own mother is the one you have to watch your back for!

Many of the 12th house Cancer cusp descriptions Ive read over say something along these lines "problems will only come from the family, most likely the mother (cancer)"... so true :sad:

And your Scorpio Moon probably makes it even more challenging for you!

Agree with you completely about having your own mother as your enemy, how can you feel loved by the world if your own mother hates you?

Everyone else in my family is her "best friend."

I don't even follow the same religion anymore, so that adds fuel to the fire for my mom's emotional distancing from me. Basically she has cut me off from the family and treats any business between us like its a chore and I must be extremely grateful.

Oh I just wanted to add, I got a sinking feeling in my stomach as soon as you said your mother was trying to take your own son away.

God bless your courage to have your own children and keep her away from them. I'm too scared to have my own children and pass on the genes I have.

It could be beneficial to do, but Ive never seen (or used) the 12th house during a career interpretation --- unless it was receiving an aspect from the 10th house (status), 6th house (work) or 2nd house (money).

Being that your 2nd house is ruled by Virgo, its not really likely that you'll make much money through work. Virgo is related to service positions, and some science (esp. health sciences) but it also indicates passive money-making.. such as through others/marriage/etc.

12 house Cancer is related to careers in; Nurturing (cancer) prisoners, the homeless, drug addicts, alcoholics, or those in institutionalized settings.

This could play out in the realm of counseling, running a food bank, restaurants (cancer) in which many of your customers could be less fortunate, working in or around a prison, mental institutes, drug/alcohol counseling, feeding or nursing others, becoming a nutritionist for the lower income / pregnant (cancer) or prisoners/mentally ill -------- or even working from home, or from family (cancer) businesses.

Whats going on in your 2nd, 6th and 10th? Where is your moon (cancer ruler)? And are there any aspects from your moon to 2nd, 6th or 10th?

Ive seen that you also have Saturn in the 4h, which indicates that (even financial) stability could be illusive to you during the first half of your life. Saturn in 4th (esp. in Scorpio) also indicates that you may be quite wealthy in your later years -- or at least, very comfortable financially. :wink:

I also have Saturn in 4th house / Scorpio.. (we have a lot of similarities in our charts!) so I know how frustrating it can be! But we'll be the envied, lavish old ladies sipping martinis beside our pool -- while watching someone cute clean it out for us.. hahaha :happy:

Your 12th house is ruled by the Moon so you must look at that and its aspects. Part of Fortune there is significant as you say.

12th house rules such as spiritual matters, those that are less fortunate, handicapped, addicted or otherwise incapicitated and our attitudes to them. How charitable and we are and how we dont discriminate. Hospitals, institutions and places of retreat and sanctuary which includes nunneries, churches, gaols, place of rehabilitation and being shut away. Also where we can work alone and how we behave when we are alone. It is our search for some kind of transcendence and escape....It deals with the intangibles of faith and how we perceive God or not. Not always an easy area to come to grips with as our sub conscious also belongs there and our motives are not always clear.

12th house Cancer careers can involve rehab, nursing, institution work even libraries, charity work, healing of various kinds but it would have to be connected to the 6th of work and/or the 10th of career as the 12th alone does not indicate career or work..... The 2nd house of income through talents also to be looked at...

A contradiction there with hidden enmity and your mother declaring that you are her open adversary which belongs more to the 7th and also the 4th of mother.....What is your Moon doing?

Saturn in the 4th does not augur well for wealth in later life necessarily unless a strong connection to the 8th of others assets and inheritance and bonuses etc....If there is such a connection then it would be through the father or father image.....A connection to the second house of income and monies that you earn yourself perhaps??????.. Saturn by itself never indicates largesse of any kind but rewards through hard work and obstacles overcome and is a karmic influence.It is limiting and disciplining and a hard taskmaster.

Great response thanks. This is all exactly what I find with my own studies but its nice to have a concurrent opinion.

So many astrologers are self taught!

My specific question though has to do with the effect of cancer on 12th house related things.

Interestingly, I did acquire a fear of water when I was a child which has lasted a long time, but I am beginning to love the water slowly.

I don't know if you know anything about asteroids/planetiods but the planet Orcus (beyond pluto) is in my 12th house. This is the only planet in that house!

The planet Orcus relates to the water as the word is derived from Orcas (killer whales.) I do not know which sign it is exalted in but perhaps it is exalted in cancer.

I thought that was interesting. My question is answered so far, its just that I have so much fire in my chart and my moon is debilitated with a conjunction with saturn. (moon conjunct saturn in the 4th) I feel like I will have to overcome a tremendous obstacle in order to be wealthy, but its not wealth I am looking for, only a feeling of security.

This struck a chord in me. I have my moon in libra in the 12th house and I had a very emotionally abusive and neglectful mother - My father was also absent for a long time and the one who filled his role was very abusive too.

I am in therapy right now and feeling, receiving, and giving love - Especially expressing emotions has been extremely difficult to me and I often wondered if I dont know how to do it right because I wasn't taught or shown the proper way to love something growing up.

"How can you feel loved by the world if your own mother hates you." I struggle with this question all the time and therapy is really helping me with these issues. I'm really sorry you had to go through that but I like knowing that I'm not the only one who has felt 'defective' if I may use that word to describe it. Sorry I couldn't add any more beneficial information, I just wanted to add in a similar experience due to having a similar placement.
