Question about transits

How long do transits last? How can we tell how long each transit lasts?

Depends on which planet and whether planet retrogrades during transit

transiting planets
make temporary appearances in each sign
for example
transiting MOON is in a sign for approximately 2.5 days
before travelling on to next sign
MERCURY transits a sign for one week - unless retrogrades during transit
VENUS transits a sign for nineteen days
SUN transits a sign for a month
MARS transits a sign for fifty-seven days
JUPITER transits a sign for a year
SATURN transits a sign for two and a half years

Thanks for the insight. Still, I'm lost on how to figure out how long each transit aspect lasts. Because transit planets last known amounts of time in certain signs, but how long certain aspects last on each transit planet isn't known.

Also, astroseek only displays aspects between transiting planets and natal planets, it doesn't display any aspects between JUST transiting planets themselves. Do you know of any sites that display every aspect your transits are making?

it's rather the matter of ORB (=personal preference).
https://www.astro.com/astrowiki/en/Orb

JUPITERASC sent you a table with approximate dates, how long will each planet spend/appear in each sign.
The arc length of each sign is 30° degrees and so:

- if you choose to follow aspects within 5° degrees orb, you might multiply this table by fraction * (5/30) to get the approximate length of "transit duration"
- if you choose to follow aspects within 3° degrees orb, you might multiply this table by fraction * (3/30) to get the approximate length of "transit duration"
- if you choose to follow exact aspects only (for example within 1° degree orb), you might multiply this table by fraction * (1/30) to get the very short length of "transit duration"

There is no general consensus, which Orbs should be exactly used => there is no general consensus, how long will each transit exactly last.

You should rather use this mundane "Current planets" link:
horoscopes.astro-seek.com/current-planets-astrology-transits-planetary-positions

1) it displays current transit chart with an option to "Browse in time:". (+1 hour forward/+1day forward/+1 week forward/+1 month forward/or/-1 hour backward/-1day backward/-1 week backward/ etc...)
and you will immediately see how fast each planet moves.

2) you will get the list of current aspects between JUST transiting planets themselves.

3) you can filter this list of current aspects by orb (<1°; <2°; <3°; Any);
and there is also a quick link "FIND", which finds the exact date (0°Orb) of each particular transit aspect via this aspect search engine:

Well astrotheme has an option to display the current planetary positions, which IS the transits that everyone is always under, right? If so is true, then we can easily just generate the chart for the planet's position "plus 1 minute" every minute or so, to see how long the aspects last and like you said JUPITERASC already explained how long the planets transit each sign so we already have that for reference as well.

Re: Question about transits

You can best learn about transiting orbs by observing transits.

Okay, I will then, thanks for the input.

Quick question, do you happen to know if the planets position = the transits everyone is under all the time? Like is everyone under the exact same transits at the exact same time? Does location play any role in any of this?

Re: Question about transits

Transits affect the world at large. But equally, they affect each individual according to the birth chart.

Whether, how, and when a transit will affect any given person depends on when the the transit contacts the natal planet.

A person is born in a given Moment of Spacetime. This Moment, in astrology, produces a unique birth chart which describes the Moment.

Because this birth chart (or radix) is unique, it will be affected by future Moments (the transits) in accord with its unique nature.

The radix depicts a moment in spacetime; it follows that location matters...representing space.

I want to add what Greybeard has been alluded. The ancient Mediteranian remind us to look at the current planetary sign in the birth chart which activated for one year. The particular sign and its lord should give you more transit affect in greater portions. This technique called "Annual Profection".

I am aware that transits aspect natal planets.

But is the current planets positions at every second = everyones transitory chart (and its the current planet positions that have an effect on us through aspects to our natal planets somehow)?

That is true. But we don't all have our natal planets in the same place, so we don't get the exact same transits at the same time.

Right now, for example, people with a planet at 20-23 degrees Capricorn are having it transited by Saturn and Pluto. People with a planet at 20-23 degrees Cancer are getting it opposed by that transit, and people with planets at the same degree of Libra or Aries are getting a square. But suppose one person has the moon there and another has Mercury. They're getting different kinds of transits, with different effects on their lives. And suppose another person has, say, a Moon/Mercury conjunction in Sagittarius. They're not getting any transit at all to those planets from Saturn and Pluto. Unless they have some other placement at 20-23 degrees of a cardinal sign, Saturn and Pluto aren't affecting them so strongly right now.

Everyone currently living is living under the same sky. But we're not all touched by it in the same way.

Where in the world you are doesn't make any difference in how the planetary transits are touching your birth chart, although if you're involved in a major event, overlaying the event chart with your natal usually shows some connection between the angles of the event chart and your natal placements. For that purpose, where the event took place matters, because that determines the event chart's houses and angles. But if all we're talking is planetary transits, your location is irrelevant.
