Traditional Astrology For discussions on Traditional Astrology only. (Note: Typically, traditional astrology is defined as using techniques developed prior to 1700 by astrologers from the Hellenistic, Persian, Hebrew, and Renaissance eras. In general, it relies on Ptolemaic aspects (sextile, trine, square, opposition and conjunction) though there may be some exceptions, and always excludes modern planets (Neptune, Uranus and Pluto,) as well as any asteroids. The focus is less on what would be considered modern psychological chart interpretation and more on prediction. Members who wish to explore a combination of traditional and modern ideas should feel free to start a new thread in an appropriate forum for further discussion.)

Re: What is face and term?

read about essential dignity so you can grasp the basics. What you a referring to as sun being in 8th house has to do with accidental dignity. So read about both.

Scorpio Sun irrespective of House has no face dignity
- only decanic dignity as shown by the following table

Hi Aria good to be appreciated - thanks
Face and Term add to the stubtle layers of chart delineation
Faces- Also known as 'decans'; divisions of the signs into 10 sections
each of which is governed by one of the planets.
These appear to be based upon the Egyptian division of the year
into 36 ten-day periods, each presided over by a particular stellar deity.
The 4th century astrologer Firmicus Maternus
is among many who placed great emphasis on their use, saying that
a planet in its own decan is as good as in its own sign.
Like Manilius before him, he attributed decan rulership to the signs of the zodiac
but most authors, including Ptolemy, gave them to the planets in descending order towards the earth
i.e., Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Sun, Venus, Mercury, Moon
Their order reflects planetary rulership over the days of the week. http://www.skyscript.co.uk/gl/faces.html

Terms - A significator located in its own terms represents someone with reasonable merit, skill and background
within an appropriate field.
Understanding.
The person is on his own terms, in his own office and administration.
Insight and experience.
The significator more apt to act because he or she has greater capacity for action.
The person has the know-how of the trade.
Being in own terms gives capacity for negotiation, to do business and to set the terms.
Knowing what one is talking about.
More readily qualified or certified.
The right to voice an opinion on valid grounds.
Performing, doing business and having a good reason for doing so.
Being at either the right or wrong place but for a good reason.
Being on a mission.
Here we have a reasonable stand-in or substitution.
Someone who has more than a tourist visa and holds a credible work permit.
Secretary, Officer, Administrating or Executive.
The terms describe how something is tooled and how it performs.
A planet in the terms of a fortune is amidable and pleasant
a planet in the terms of an infortune is more obstinate, coarse and rugged http://www.astronor.com/dignities.htm
