Moon's last aspect shows outcome

I have read that in general, we look to the moon as an important indication when choosing dates, as the moon's last aspect generally shows how things will work out.

I am not talking about electional astrology exactly, more like, if I start something, like if I enter a contest or get ready to meet someone for the first time, I've glanced at the moon, and assumed that a good last aspect means things will work out, and a bad one will cause a problem.

is this correct? Let's say you thought about going to a casino, after looking at the 5th house, or your own natal chart, wouldn't you glance at the moon to see what the likely results are, or does that not matter since it's not an official elected date?

I hope I'm clear...

In standard horary, and most tradition (both Western and Vedic), what you have said above is largely accepted as valid. In my personal opinion, based upon my understandings and experiences, I do not accept this outlook as generally valid: certainly I believe the Moon is very important, but I simply do not accept that its aspects, or its last aspect alone, is the key indicator, the "essential prognostic", of anything-I believe in the totality or confluence of cosmic influences, and do not believe that any one, single element, no matter how important, dominates all...

Dr Farr,
I agree. The concerned significators also need to be in positive aspect and so do the luminaries to get a good outcome. The last aspect of the moon is one of the indicators, for sure, but certainly not the only one.

Still, given it's importance, I'm going to continue to consider it with everything... for instance, I need to do some things this weekend, but I'm not going to start any of it til Friday when the moon will be in aries, and will ultimately sextile neptune...

Had I started anything today or even tomorrow, the moon's last aspect would be an opposition to venus, and I need all the help I can get!

and what about the 4th house and it`s ruler? i`ve heard that it shows the end of the matter.. also in electional/event chart do you use only traditional 7 planets(as in horary) or also outer planets?

4th house is useful re to end of the matter-however, whenever I apply this I follow both Ibn Ezra and Al-Biruni (and the Ankara tradition) and take the 3rd decan of the 4th house as significator, not the sign on the cusp or ruler of the entire 4th house.

For me I definitely will consider the outers in elections; only in rare circumstances do I consider them in horary, and even when I do, it is only as modifying influences affecting the significators (I do not give the outers significator status in horary)
