differentiation Sun and ASC

Your astrology reveals who you are beyond the facade that you express to others. On the surface you have developed a method of representation [ASC] which is often quite different from the true essence of your Sun. Some find offence to the suggestion of this being a mask, or masquerade but this is merely an metaphor; perhaps it would be better accepted as 'the way you represent yourself to the world'. The Asc is a necessary filter through which we express our inner energies. If all came surging through at once, imagine the disruption, confusion and chaos.
At the subconscious level, the psyche tries to conceal and hide the weaknesses within, responding to the model of the particular sign rising at birth, by expressing a 'polished version' of the self. It is at this level that the psyche gradually adopts the signature of the sign, which is further refined as we evolve. It is the simile of us all being actors on a stage, for which we have to prepare for our performance before the curtain is raised up. In this way then we can see how the 1st H represents the stage on which we act out our role. Is it real, or is it 'memorex'. Our true Identity of the Sun is typically hidden somewhere else behind the scenes. Consider also that it is times of stress or conflict that the more negative side of the self can reveal itself.
The Sun in turn represents the Identity we are working towards integrating, and it can take many years before it's characteristics tend to be adopted by the persona. How many of you practice your 'look' in front of the mirror before heading out, because the ego is concerned with physical appearance. When we step onto the stage, it is the DC that acts as the mirror to the self, in connection with others.
What I am saying is that the 'persona' that we express publicly is often very different from the true Self which is within. As we evolve then we are trying to blend and incorporate the variables between the nature of the persona and the Identity into a unified mix. No wonder we often create paradox and opposition in our relations with others.
