Will your specialist degree education restrict your work opportunities in the future? Well, I would argue just the opposite. If you have a degree in mathematics you can choose between many jobs - and there is nothing to stop you being a cab driver in Delhi if you want. But if you don't have a degree and the opportunity comes up to be a cab driver in Delhi, you had better take it because your other opportunities are now much more limited. You can never have too much education!

This is a 9th house question about further education and Saturn, ruler of the ascendant, is appropriately in the 9th house, showing concern about this matter, so giving the question some radicality.

But Saturn is peregrine in Scorpio and square the ascendant. It would seem your worries about your further education being restrictive and not leading to further opportunities have some foundation.

However, we see Mercury is separating from a conjunction to Saturn and moving to a trine with Jupiter, so "translating the light" from Saturn to Jupiter.

Jupiter is exalted in Cancer and is in the 6th house, which rules job opportunites. Moreover, Jupiter rules the 10th house of your honour, status, and preferment. So, with the help of Mercury, your education will bring you the opportunities you seek.

Who is Mercury here? It is interesting to note that Mars, ruler of the 9th house, is in Virgo in the 7th house. So, there is a mutual reception between Mecury and Mars, and we see the Part of Fortune is also in Virgo, in the 7th house, conjunct Mars. This leads us to who Mercury represents in this chart.

The 7th house rules 'partners' and so could be a wife.... But Virgo is an 'intercepted' sign wholly enclosed within the 7th house, so that we might consider Mercury a co-significator of partners. Mercury here is not a general partner, like a wife, but a specialised partner in relation to this question. This is someone like an agent who finds outlets for your particular talents. And in this regard, it is interesting to see that Mercury rules the 5th house of 'agents'.

The Moon is at the end of Taurus, but is about to enter Gemini when it will perfect the applying square to Mars. I would say this indicates that there will be difficulties in obtaining your specialised education, (ruled by Mars) which will require dedication and devotion to follow through. But if you do apply yourself, I think you will reap the rewards through the help and guidance of the 'agent' Mercury.

Harold, does Mercury being Rx change your delineation? I ask not out of contention but rather...er, poll taking. I see Mercury applying to Saturn via retrogradation after not perfecting the trine with Jupiter.

I do not see you having any difficulties finding good employment. Your significator is Saturn and using whole sign houses Mars is significator of employment of career. Mars is applying to Saturn by sextile and Saturn is in the 10th or career. Mercury is in mutual reception with Mars and has a mutual application with Saturn. Since Mercury has a connection with Mars, it looks like someone who will help you not compete with you. So I will say that the chart gives you a yes answer.

I think you will decide to study further, but perhaps not the course you are currently thinking of. Moon has dignity in Taurus and applying to Mars ruler of 9th. Moon has to change signs though so this shows change in circumstances - perhaps different course.Mars is peregrine but angular. Moon is also angular (within 5 degrees of 4th cusp). Mars is ruled by Mercury, and Mercury is rx back into Saturn. So perhaps this shows some change of mind regarding studies. Perhaps family will have something to say about your studies (4th ruler).

Emotionally you perhaps wouldn't want to do another course, Moon in detriment of Mars, yet Saturn is extremely concerned with studies, placed in 9th and ruled by Mars. Mars will aspect Saturn, however it seems Mercury will get to Saturn first, so there is interference, perhaps from family...(haven't checked ephemeris though)

Cheers :)
