Everyone who's had transiting Saturn conjunct Natal Ascendant

A few months prior to Saturn's transit to my Ascendant, I had moved 2,000 miles from home. A job prospect fell through, so I had to search for another post.

As Saturn arrived at my Ascendant, I started working at a place where I really didn't fit in well; months later, when Saturn came round again, I was... well, not quite fired, more like escorted to the door. (I was told, "You need to start looking for another job.") So I started yet another job right away.

I recall being pretty lonely, since I had left boyfriend and friends "at home" and had had little time to interact with anyone except at work. Felt very unsettled during this time, though I did move into an apartment during this transit (had been staying with older relatives), which brought more of a sense of stability into my life. Also became a big sister with Big Sisters/Big Brothers organization toward the end of the transit.

So... kind of a mixed bag from Saturn.

Natal Saturn is at my 10/11 cusp.

Did anyone have...don't laugh...a pleasant or happy time with this transit? Does Saturn's aspects natally have more to do with it? If my birth time is correct, TR Saturn over my ASC was a very happy time except for trouble in love. My natal aspects to Saturn would reflect that though.

Bob (I miss Bob) actually spoke on this once. Using his personal experience he talked about how when Saturn hit his ascendant, it was a good time for him because Saturn ruled his ascendant. I wish I could remember the thread. Oh, someone posted it above!

For me, I had more of a rough time when Saturn was in my 12th house more so than when it hit my ascendant, BUT that could also be because transiting Pluto was square my ascendant at the time.

The truth is, Saturn is currently retrograde over my natal Pluto and POF by conjunction while transiting Pluto squares my natal Saturn/Jupiter conjunction.

My circumstances over the last 5 years have gone from bad to worse, BUT, my attitude and joy levels have not only rebounded but in many ways have started cementing themselves as normal parts of my lifestyle. Of course, this mental change has been developing slowly, and I still have times where I revert to old 'woe is me' patterns. However, I'm startlingly aware of them and it doesn't take much to correct myself.

To be fair, I must say that I think a big part of my attitude change can probably be attributed to the fact that I am in a progressed new moon phase in the 5th house. All of my heavy transits are set to begin subsiding (FINALLY) in late summer/early fall and are being replaced by a ton of really pleasant ones. I'm happy.

Hey guys,

some really interesting and useful feedback there! I think I've used all my thanks for today I have to do a group response lol. I can't find a common thread through all the experiences, so indeed there seems to particulars dependent on the individual natal conditions. But what does that say for general, 'cookbook' interpretations then? Putting aside my perspective of everyone else's experiences, do any of you think you can find some of the common ideas of TR Saturn over ASC in your own experience?

I think that the aspect is representative of lessons rather than actual events or even feelings.

The lesson being one of self authority vs authority of others and all that that can contain. Those lessons are going to be learned differently by everyone and what's more, is the lessons won't be identical. Rather they'll explore different facets of the authority lesson.

I think the cook book definitions try to highlight the potentials of aspects only.

Self-reliance works for me. There were lots of changes AROUND me at that transit; I had to depend on myself to land on my feet.

I don't know about the general cookbook-type descriptions of being serious, reserved, depressed, or whatever. I'm not that way in general, so doubt that I was during the Saturn-to-Ascendant transit. Lonely, yes, for specific reasons listed in my post above.

I doubt any relatively outgoing person will suddenly get all reserved, or that a normally buoyant person will get depressed, tho of course circumstances can make that happen... and maybe those circumstances relate to Saturn. For instance, one woman I know of was sick in bed during her transit. I've known people who were anxious for one reason or another when Saturn crossed their Ascendant, because of a separation, say, or job insecurity.

So, yeah, it depends on who you are (whether you and your Ascendant are naturally strong or not, for instance), probably how old you are when you go through this, definitely depends on how you handle Saturn transits in general -- which, in turn, depends a lot on how Saturn is positioned in your own chart. And it depends on whether Saturn is manifesting in a material or "outer" way, or internally. Lots of ifs and maybes involved.

My ASC is 5 Leo; Saturn hit it in 2006, when I was 36.

My mentor, and really my second mother, died almost to the day. It was a major event in my life.

The cookbook interpretations really resonate with me. It was like a growing up thing, as she had really helped me steer my course, and now I am without her guidance- at least in this world...

Also I was an executor of her estate, so there were many things to deal with that were new and "grown-up" in my experience.

Hope this helps your research!

Ah ha, so to figure that out all you have to do is check transits, progressions, midpoints, almutens, terms, solar arcs and evaluate the natal planet's aspects to unravel the possibilities?

Haha yeah, and you forgot a bunch

I've abandoned everything but the natal chart, dashas and transits.

thats a very good post, self authority indeed because all the **** you go through with saturn is trying to please others, well, its not required at all, only in childhood so full circle i guess saturn is to do with what you have been taught via family and society and how you deal with it as an independent adult, its like a lesson to separate the wheat from the chaffe, i dont mind saturn transits they are normally beneficial in the end

Good to see someone's using a straight-forward approach that works. I find it hard to believe that we have to labour 10 hours to take a look at the day your cat died. For that, I would happily agree with the scientists that we're crazy.

Ah ha, well good to see that the standard definitions are things that some people can connect with. I was beginning to wonder lol.

I agree. I too try to keep it simple. I start digging deeper though when what people are asking doesn't seem to be in line with what the chart appears to be saying.

i natally have saturn conj my ascendant. So like bob, i liked the transit. i was ready for it. i have a libra rising, so the transit was recent. it made me take my personal relationships more seriously, my appearance and weight, and in general more STABLE. on the negative side my lower back was KILLING ME. (libra = lower back.) oh, and my teeth, (saturn) it was hurting morning till night. and like a couple other members said, yes everything seemed like it was taking forever, but i guess i was naturally more patient. the transit is coming up again in september, so i guess i will check in with another report then.

oh, and when it was a couple degrees away from crossing over, i was taking care of stuff from the past and putting it behind.(esp when it was one deg away approaching my asc. )

As I mentioned in my previous post, Saturn`s journey through the 12th and approaching my Ascendant has really highlighted loneliness and introversion, but it was needed. One of the main things coming out of this is realising all my flaws particularly in relationships and I feel sooooooooo guilty that I could have acted as I did. So if any of you feel lonely during this transit just tell yourself its for a purpose.

I have learned this. Saturn crossing my ascendant has really felt like a miniature ego-death for me, a lot of the time. The positive thing to look forward to, is perhaps the 'rebirth' of what I'll be able to work with in the near future, free of some of the negative attachments that had grown on my previous emotional stabilities.
In the meantime, I am gently trying to embrace the hermit lifestyle :pinched:

&My lower back has been a wretched ache, too

I have often found that Saturn transits manifest rather *concretely*. Therefore, I would suggest looking at a couple of things.

1) What things your ascendant rules.
2) What house the ruler of your ascendant is in, and what it concerns.
3) Any planets that make (strong) aspects to your Asc., and where they're located.

That's a lot of stuff to keep track of, but any or all could govern the impact.

Again, when Saturn crossed my Asc for the first time, I broke my ankle -- on the day it hit. I have Pisces rising (feet), crossed by Saturn (bones). My Neptune happens to sit in the 9th house, and the place I broke my ankle was in an icy parking lot of the university where I was attending grad school.

Great points you`ve made. I also think you need to consider what sign Saturn is coming from.

As an update to my situation, Saturn has now retrograded back to conjunct my Ascendant and for the last 3 weeks I have been almost static having strained my back, then my arthritic knee flared up making movement even harder - I feel a right pathetic creature. My Saturn is coming from Leo.

As Saturn went forward into the first a month or so ago, I began to feel better but now depression and loneliness has returned. But I`m sure it won`t be for long, I`ve just got to be patient.

Venus, the ruler of my Ascendant is in the 5th and opposes Saturn and this transit has been less about partnership relationships but more relationships with my children, who I feel, at the moment, would be far happier if I were dead. Yes, that does sound pathetic and feeling sorry for myself but it has made me look at the failings they accuse me of and I don`t think I would have had this opportunity unless I had been static.

I think Saturn is about parenting and responsibility, but perhaps that`s because my Saturn is in the 10th. I used to think I`d been a good parent but at the moment, I look back and think I`ve been sh!t. There is a saying which goes "The first half of life is ruined by your parents; the second half of life is ruined by your children!" and I empathise with this at the moment, but it will pass.

Saturn made its first pass over my ascendant in early September of my second year of University. It seemed all I did that school year was work or study and I don't remember having much free time for having fun. In May when school finished for the year, Saturn had retrograded back to the exact degree of my ascendant. I had a series of summer jobs where I continually had a problem with my supervisors (Leo is my ascendant, Saturn is in the fifth house) despite my efforts to be pleasant with them. It seemed that regardless of how well I performed they would find something to fault me for. It was really irritating because I was more proficient at the jobs than most of my coworkers.

This time period of Saturn transiting my ascendant stands out because in my other years of University during the school year (Sep-Apr), I never worked at an outside job. I was self employed teaching piano, I sometimes worked at my father's company and towards the latter part of University I started doing professional Astronumerology consultations. In fact, I don't even remember what possessed me to take an outside job my second year of University given I was making a good amount of money from my regular jobs and my parents were paying for most of my school costs. It seems fitting that since Saturn is in my fifth house, the job was as a recreation attendant, enforcing the rules was a major part of the job, and I dealt a lot with children and teenagers. Looking back, my taking this job was definitely the work of Saturn!

I'm really confused now. I thought that this transit was amongst the most clear and strongest of personal changes possible. Also, it being a fantastic (short-term window) rectification tool. But the descriptions are so varied, you only have to check every tool of natal astrology used in the last 3,000 years and even then it will be wholly personal and individual related to your chart. What? I don't think it's just me, factually speaking, I think there's something imprecise about this. I suppose I'll have to venture further into older astrology to find the answers as usual. :whistling: There must be some common elements that can't be splintered by 'other considerations' or 'personal and individual experiences' otherwise the aspect would be totally indistinguishable from every other aspect. If I find a reliable common element I'll report back. :)

Here's one useful resource I found: http://www.aquariuspapers.com/astrology/2005/12/saturn_cycles_w.html

Byjove, the common element wouldn't be the symptoms (which is what we have really been discussing) but the actual quality of energy during this time.

The reason the symptoms are different for everyone is that the ego structure is thoroughly dissolved when Saturn transits the 12th house before hitting the ascendant.

Once Saturn hits the ascendant, its like a reset. The reset is not instantaneous either, but instead what happens is that we are suddenly aware of losing our sense of identity (ego structure) and needing to turn within to begin to make heads or tales of what's really going on and who we really are.

All of us respond to loss, isolation, confusion, newness, etc. differently, and that is why you see so many different manifestations of Saturn on the Asc. Each time Saturn hits our ascendant, we fall back on the tools from the last round which means that the second time Saturn hits, our tools are a little more honed and we are a little more adept at using them. Thus when Saturn hits, we are often a little more prepared. We are familiar with the energy of anxiety, or internal distress by this time and often rise to the call long before its become a crisis.

Libra 7 degree Asc conjoin Saturn 3 degree Libra in 1st house conjoined Jupiter 0 degree Libra. Saturn trines Sun 6 degree Gemini.

As far as what I've personally experienced during my Saturn's return, as it's not over yet but here are a few things in no particular order...

1. Divorce from Leo/Scorpio/Virgo ex (this happened a 2 years before Saturn crossed my chart exact- basically, I kick started my Saturn's return with a divorce LOL). When Saturn crossed my chart, that was when the divorce was finalized. I felt like it was the end of my love life. 2. Lost the job that I hated but started to pursue lines of work that I've always wanted which is writing 3. Emptied out my savings, trusts, so I ended up living off of very little money 4. Took a few random vacations on very little money and forced to rely on the "goodness" of others- and others did pull through for me 5. Had very brief and unsatisfying relationships that I complained weren't "real" 6. Lost some friends who were deadweights- was sad about it but realized it was for the better because I made room for 7. Made friends that are helpful towards me 8. Reconnected with my parents after 5 years of complete silence, namely my Dad 9. Reconnected with my old close friends I hadn't heard from in many years 10. The cat I had since my early college days died. I had spent $1000 of the little money I had for his hospitalization and giving him a rockstar death (learned that love comes with duties) 11. Dealt with constant feelings of lonliness, isolation, restrictions, lack of room to breathe 12. Learned to live with 75% less of everything and find out I have a great knack for the ascetic 13. Came back to being a vegetarian after my divorce, took up yoga, and returned from long hiatus from long distance cycling 14. In my early 20s I was flipping cars. During the early parts of my Saturn's return, I started flipping bikes 15. I took the risk and moved back to LA (where I'm originally from) from San Francisco on very little money. Got rid of most of my worldy possessions and learned to not hold onto stuff as much. 16. Realized that I love living alone so I rented a studio apartment in a fun, yet somewhat "shady" part of town but it's below market rate LOL 17. I became a more reliable friend, daughter, neighbor, worker, mother to my cat, and person overall. 18. Comfort my little cat who's experiencing transiting Saturn squaring his natal Saturn (he's starting to be bossy and demand love a bit more boldly) 19. Learned to stand up for myself and others a lot better, and more vocal about it too 20. Glad Saturn gave me shift kicks to get my butt in gear!

I talked more about Saturn's 1st return in the natal thread:

that's interesting, I have Saturn from Libra squaring my natal asc, (Saturn return also, so my Saturn natally squares asc) and few of my teeth have cracked and overall my whole jaw feels ache-y, and my lower back has been hurting a lot almost daily for the past several months. This Saturn retro period seemed to exacerbated it even more

may28gemini, wow, that's a lot of happenings in your life. Seems like you're going in the right direction after all of it, sounds to me like a textbook example of Saturn return working in on the positive way ;) and Saturn on asc plus Saturn return at the same time, that's huge. I think Jupiter being there too is working well and aspect to Sun giving you strength in the process.
