reception in synastry?

As I scratch the surface of traditional astrology with intrigue and wonder, it crosses my mind that the application of reception or mutual reception between planets across charts in synastry might provide important information. I suspect that synastry may be modern, but don't know. However, I am wondering if any traditional astrologers have an opinion about its meaningfulness or value in this particular circumstance.

You're right, there really isn't any synastry in traditional astrology, so there isn't much to work with in this. But I think reception is reception is reception, so it should work like it normally does regardless of the context. Unfortunately, I'm not too keen on synastry or what it seeks to do or provide for people, so I can't really give any examples. :/
