After reading what actually occurred in that house with the 14 yr old, I don't care if he was a giant at 8 Feet tall ......he was STILL a child in the eyes of the law.

https://www.mprnews.org/story/2020/...m-as-chauvin-knelt-on-his-back-for-17-minutes

He then found the 14-year-old son lying on the floor in his bedroom looking at his phone. Chauvin and another officer told him to stand up because he was under arrest. The boy refused and added that his mother was drunk and assaulted him.The court filing says the child tried to talk with officers about his mother, but they yelled at him to stand up. The officers quickly grabbed him and Chauvin hit the child in the head with his flashlight.
Two seconds later, Chauvin grabbed the boy’s throat and struck him again in the head with the flashlight.
“The child cried out that they were hurting him, and to stop, and called out ‘mom,’” according to the filing.

Chauvin applied a neck restraint, causing the child to temporarily pass out and fall to the ground. The officers placed him in the prone position and handcuffed him behind his back while his mother pleaded with the officers not to kill her son and told her son to stop resisting.

“About a minute after going to the ground, the child began repeatedly telling the officers that he could not breathe, and his mother told Chauvin to take his knee off her son,” prosecutors wrote. They added that the mother asked Chauvin to take his knee off her son four times because her son couldn’t breathe, but that Chauvin maintained his position and replied that her son, who Chauvin described as 6 feet, 2 inches tall and at least 240 pounds, was “a big guy.

If the 14 year old were my son, I would have told him to get off his phone, up from the floor and listen to the police officer.
Maybe here we see a clue as to why the mother's children actually allowed themselves to assault her?

The kid was clearly violent & out of control & Chauvin had to restrain the 6'2, 240 lb 'child' or he could have assaulted or even killed the police officer.

Antifa have said that "Unless Chauvin gets life in prison, they will burn the country down again and 'we haven't seen anything yet".

NO jury is going to feel safe acquitting Chauvin even though the toxicologist today stated that he had 3 x the amount of fentanyl in his system...plus other drugs too!!!

It is now abundantly clear that a drug dealer killed George Floyd.
The evidence at every level is overwhelming.

If the 'child' came to your home & assaulted you, would you call a police officer? Plenty of 14 yr olds have killed.:crying:

Of course you would. There were NO charges against Chauvin for the LEGAL restraint....in fact, if he hadn't restrained the 'kid', he probably would be dead himself.

The 'kid' suffered NO injury other than being controlled to prevent him from assaulting his mother again. Maybe you're okay with kids beating up on their mothers but that's the problem with the world today. No consequences for what 'kids' do.

The defense has yet to present their case yet you & JupiterAC would gladly put Chauvin in front of a firing squad without even giving him a fair trial. Controlling & restraining a drugged-up criminal, a VERY large man who refused to follow directions is not an easy task as even more police officers were needed.
The crowd around the melee were screaming obscenities at Chauvin & the defense is going to bring that up. 17 people surrounding him made it impossible for the police officers to deal with the situation...in fact, the loud crowd contributed to Floyd's death...even the first responders have testified that the situation was not safe & they could not administer first aid until they got Floyd away from the angry mob.

:libra: balance is needed here, not hysterica & hyperbole. U.S.A. is still a country of laws.

In fact it was the mother herself who called the police for help, her 14 year old was assaulting her.
One thing is legal age, quite another physical threat.

I repeat myself, but I don't understand why now a courtroom allows past actions to be presented as evidence. For either side.

At least it has to be fair...if they bring up Chauvin's past, they have to bring up Floyd's past too. And he has a very length police record.
In 2019, he was arrested & he swallowed the stash of drugd he had on him....leading him to have severe breathing problems & he was rushed to hospital.

And will the defense be able to bring up Floyd's violent past when he entered a home to steal & brutally assaulted the women living there.
He served 5 yrs for that crime so he's not this 'innocent teddy bear' the media portray him to be. So many violent encounters with the police too.

On the other hand, Chauvin worked decades in the police force & apart from a couple of disciplinary notes in his file (which most police officers get)was never known as a racist or 'killer' that the media are painting him to be.

He worked p/t as security for a large dance place (which the protesters burned down last summer) for 17 yrs & Floyd got a job there when he moved to MN.
There was never any trouble with the two of them.

The police chief initially stood by Chauvin as did the police force for they understood that the restraint he used at the time was legal & used 100s of times with no problems. After BLM.Antifa burned the country down in 2020, they turned against Chauvin. Very few law enforcement will come out openly to support him now, either because of the 'woke' media or they are afraid the violent mob will come to where they live & burn their homes down.

The head of the Minneapolis police union says George Floyd’s “violent criminal history” needs to be remembered and that the protests over his death are the work of a “terrorist movement.”

“What is not being told is the violent criminal history of George Floyd. The media will not air this,” police union president Bob Kroll told his members in a letter posted Monday on Twitter.

Floyd had landed five years behind bars in 2009 for an assault and robbery two years earlier, and before that, had been convicted of charges ranging from theft with a firearm to drugs, the Daily Mail reported.

If what he did to the 14 yr old was legal then and okay with his commanders as to proper behavior of his police squad, then let the video in the courtroom, for he did nothing wrong to be afraid of a video.

In the 1950s children were taught in school about "Officer Friendly"., but by the time we were teenagers, we knew better. Some could be as mean as Derek Chauvin. City kids learn fast.

Officer Friendly by Normal Rockwell American artist:
Many of us know the Officer Friendly story. He epitomizes liberal police virtues. He seeks the public’s respect and willing cooperation to follow the law, and he preserves their favor with lawful enforcement.

The original was painted from the White perspective and highlighted the harmonious relationship between the officer and the boy

https://thesocietypages.org/socimages/2020/09/16/officer-friendlys-adventures-in-wonderland/

The Militarization of the Police Department, a painting parody of Rockwell’s The Runaway, 2014
The parody of Rockwell’s painting offers us a visceral depiction of contemporary urban policing. Both pictures depict different historical eras and demonstrate how police have changed. Officer Unfriendly is anonymous, of unknown race, and presumably male. He is prepared for battle, armed with several weapons that extend beyond his imposing frame. Officer Unfriendly is outfitted in tactical military gear with “POLICE” stamped across his back. The images also differ in their depictions of the boy’s race and his relationship to the officer. Officer Unfriendly appears more punitive than paternalistic. He looms over the Black boy sitting on the adjacent stool and peers at him through a tear gas mask. The boy and White lunch counter operator back away in fright. All of the tenderness in the original have given way to hostility in this parody.

Derek Chauvin Trial: Pulmonologist says

George Floyd died from a '....low level of oxygen....'

Pulmonologist Dr. Martin Tobin was first to the witness stand
Thursday
sharing his expert opinion that
George Floyd died from low oxygen caused by shallow breathing.

Tobin testified that lack of oxygen caused damage to Floyd's brain
and
his heart to stop.

Tobin said he believes

Floyd's shallow breathing was caused by prone position
handcuffs behind his back
and knees on the neck and back.

All right, so Chauvin executed a man who was restrained and posed no immediate threat to himself or the public, simply for being high on illegal drugs. That's known as "summary execution".

The President of the Philippines was in favor of summary executions for users and dealers of illegal drugs, and #45 said he thought that was a "good idea" at the time.

Unfortunately for Chauvin, under current law, it's murder in the first degree, since it was both premeditated and deliberate.

He'd be much better off pleading "depraved indifference".
