Interesting coincidence, the Greek culture flourishing during the Age of the Centaur, and that of Egypt during the Age of the Scorpion. And the Horned Goat one being declared by the Church as "the Prince of this World" during the Age of the Goat. Also, Zeus/Jupiter as the king of the gods during the Age of Sagittarius. Major developments at each Age change-over as well. That's the thing about the Ages--empirical correlations are available.
Cherry picked correlations

obviously not all knowledge is available

keep in mind
much ancient knowledge has been lost

a MODERN example is the merciless destruction by bombing

Modern can incorporate all available knowledge.
unfortunately "all available knowledge" is no longer available
MODERN destruction of currently available knowledge
continues unabated
museums and priceless artefacts are daily bombed to smithereens
in the Middle East for example

An ancient example is the attacks on the Alexandrian Library. :pinched:
while bemoaning the loss of the Alexandrian Library
hypocritical MODERN WARMONGERS continue obliterating ancient artefacts
many thousands of years old

What Sign did he say liked flattery the most?

Robert Schmidt translates the phrase as ''despising flattery''. Valens seems to use the word κολακεία here - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kolakeia

He does not bring flattery with other signs, although he says that those born under Cancer (Rising Sign or Moon being there) are popular, public, party-giving, theatrical and cheerful. (using Riley's translation)
