I would say the synastry, which shows how the energies between two persons contact each other, how strongly, what type of energy, whether it is easy or difficult.
The composite shows how it all works out in the relationship, so sometimes all added up the energies manifest in a way that doesn't readily show up in the synastry.
The composite is like a snapshot of things, while the synastry is the actual.
