Re: Any advice on this synastry please!

Your ascendent/descendent axis are flipped, this is a very strong attraction, magnetic.
You each see yourself in the other.
This image explains it well.

"But iit’s always hard to tell where he is at, or what he is perceiving."
Just to start off with the most obvious, your mercury opposes Neptune, so you tend to see things the way you want and not the way they necessarily are, and that mercury is faced with his Saturn/uranus/neptune conjunction: your thoughts have trouble getting across to him and he tends to be picky about them and criticise them. His own mercury squares his stellium so he too natally has communication issues. And your mercuries are in square, so you do have different ways of thinking about things.
In a romantic relationship, you look for love aspects, but communication is just as important when two people are living together and setting a course for their lives together.
In your case, mercury carries even more weight because it rules not only your sun and moon, but your ascendent, and it rules his descendent, so this conflict weighs heavily on the relationship. Add to this your mars in wide square to his mercury, and we see irritation and impatience added to the mix.
Your mars also squares his sun, exactly, and his mars, again confrontational, even though these can be sexually attractive aspects, but in the long run they wear you out.
Your descendent, the type of partner you seek, is ruled by Jupiter. When we look at the chart, we see your Jupiter up on top, all alone, not making any aspects. The relationship with him is not tying in with your needs.
His descendent is ruled by mercury, and squares his stellium saturn/neptune/uranus so we know that he will have difficulty in a relationship, not just with you but with anyone, and we already saw above how conflictual this aspect is between you.
So your comment is completely understandable. This is an inherent problem for you two, and will be difficult to resolve.
So where is Venus the love planet?
His Venus opposes his moon, showing a tendency to conflicts with women, and his moon is in your 12th house so he has difficulty expressing these emotions to you. Can you help him with this? Well, your Saturn is sitting right on his Venus, opposing his moon. He will see you as cold and unresponsive and unemotional. When he needs a shoulder to cry on, you will tend to reply by telling him to buckle up and be serious.
Your Venus squares his mars/sun conjunction, so you do try to be affectionate and caring towards him, but it isn't always in the way he needs it or understands it. In addition, your Saturn is in his 12th house, so you do think he tends to be lazy and impractical, and when you try to help him psychologically and give him insight, he finds it oppressive and it raises internal fears in him, and he sees you as unemotional.
This makes you suffer, shown by his Chiron on your Venus.
Your Venus squaring mars/sun is also a physical attraction, although with a hiccup, you have different ways of expressing it, but you can live with this if there are other positive energies backing it up. Venus is his sun ruler, so it takes on added importance.
Your sense of joy, Jupiter, we saw is not relating to the relationship, but his Jupiter is in a wide conjunction with your mercury, so when he is feeling joyful it eases up some of the tensions between you.
This relationship floats on the fact that between the two of you, you have quite a bit of mutable signs, your sun/moon, both ascendents and descendents, in air, so you can go with the flow, be flexible, be airy and intellectual about the conflicts.
His libra sun tends to give in, he wants peace and needs a partner.
These two factors more than anything else can help keep you together.

Thank you so much for this outlook, I do see and feel a lot of what you say, I don’t think I view him as lazy though. I guess I thought there was so much potential, due to our heavily transposed 7th houses or my sun moon Chiron conjunctions his descendant, and I thought the saturn although difficult could be why there this pull of a feeling of karmic tie or debt that I have. What you said was very enlightening! Thank you Elena!
