Nobody needs a serious amount of Scorpio to be a surgeon. Mars rules surgeons and is the traditional ruler of Scorpio. Possibly a heavily Scorpionic chart would be advantageous, but note that Mercury rules the hands, and it is strongest in Gemini and Virgo.
