mars, venus and mercury in virgo

I was hoping that someone might be able to offer some interpretations of my natal chart. The main part I was hoping to have illuminated was the correlation between the Virgo and Capricorn groupings. Any input or nudges in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

welcome to AW,

You can get an immediate chart interpretation from astro.com. From ‘free horoscopes tab look for free 'personal portrait' or ‘astroclick portrait’ interpretation of a natal chart in the free horoscope section, you simply put the cursor on a planet and it brings a pop up box to explain what it means to have a planet in that house and any other aspects it has to natal planets. plus a six month free transit report in 'short report' Robert Hand gives a valuable in depth explanation of transits here – only slight objection I have with astro, is they use orbs of upto maybe 10' approaching, exact and departing. So most transits seem very long in effect. I use more realistic orbs of 1' approaching, 1' exact and 1' departing.

May I suggest you read the 'welcome to the world of astrology’ and other ---sticky' at the top of natal forum? It has some great explanations, links etc. At the top of every forum there are lots of ‘stickys’ which explain matters in that forum, along with guidelines & tips

There is a 'plethora' of information on AW, espec in the 'stickys' at the top of every forum, our Education forum and Recommendations forum to. Plus we have a good search feature,[but not foolproof obviously, so try here first] bit like google using keywords – initially select advanced and try just selecting 'titles' rather than posts

I use Equal House system (where each cusp is same as Ascendant) and am a modern astrologer. Lots of newcomers come into Astrology/forums and get a free chart from www.astro.com and the default ‘house system’ used is Placidus and think that’s just the norm and all there is……..BUT that is just the tip of the iceberg. You can change the default on astro.com in Extended Chart selection to Equal house and a few others if you wish to experiment…..

Within the mainstream here on AW of placidus/equal houses (the default on astro is placidus) only difference being some planets may move from one house to another thereby altering it's interpretation and it's 'only' with research will you find which /planets 'fit you' in which houses. So my advice, do two charts, research any planets that move houses and see which you identity with - simple

So inEqual house your mercury and mars would be 12th house, you sun is a singleton and your chart lacks fire planets or planets in fire houses...

Singleton planets
“If a planet happens to be the only one in an element, quality, or house type, that planet is a Singleton and it can funnel all of the “energy” of the horoscope. This planet is often the most important one in the horoscope. In other words, if you just interpret the position of this one planet by sign, house, and aspect, you will get to the “heart of the horoscope”. The effect is the same as if that planet were the only one on one side of the chart.”

(There is a book out by Shirley Lyons Meier, "Elemental Voids, More than Meets the Eye", which gives a good discussion of missing elements.) The Inferior Function can be a source of great motivation and creative expression.

Fire Absence
The limited presence of the Fire element in your horoscope may suggest the need to experience life more actively. It may benefit you to become more vital, for you may lack the passion and spark that the fire signs afford. This doesn't mean that you don't enjoy life, but merely that you don't seem to know how to insert yourself into the action; pleasure, thrills and glory will be slow coming your way. Your pleasures are apt to be more subtle and sensitive, without the dramatics and flash. Although this void does not guarantee an introvert, you are not likely to be the extrovert. You lack the dare-devil courage of the fire signs, and this includes the utter self-confidence these signs bestow

Thank you for your reply, lots of information I need to take in. I have a question regarding the bit about singleton planets, would the planets on the cusps of fire signs alleviate the lack of the fire element in my chart at all?

I was also wondering if there any significance to the fact that my sun sign is Leo (ruled by the Sun), Pluto sign Scorpio (ruled by Pluto), Mercury sign Virgo (ruled by Mercury) and Saturn sign Capricorn (ruled by Saturn). Reading into the various aspects (mainly the square between the sun and pluto) has already been very enlightening in terms of self understanding, but I feel like the plants being in the signs they rule adds another layer to things that is currently veiled from my understanding. Can you tell me if there might be any basis to this feeling?

I have a question regarding the bit about singleton planets, would the planets on the cusps of fire signs alleviate the lack of the fire element in my chart at all? [singletons and lack of elemental balances are separate issues, but quite often go hand in hand. For a lack of fire element I would firstly, look to see if you have planets in fire houses and how mars is aspected, which explains how you 'take action'theres is only moon in fire house and sun, so it's still low]

I was also wondering if there any significance to the fact that my sun sign is Leo (ruled by the Sun), Pluto sign Scorpio (ruled by Pluto),[pluto is generational and it's hotly debated IF outer generational planets can even have *dignitries* at all] Mercury sign Virgo (ruled by Mercury) and Saturn sign Capricorn (ruled by Saturn). Reading into the various aspects (mainly the square between the sun and pluto) has already been very enlightening in terms of self understanding, but I feel like the plants being in the signs they rule adds another layer to things that is currently veiled from my understanding. first I would ask how sure are you of your TOB, in reality no one is born exactly the O'clock, half past, and quarter past and to.... How strongly to you identify with Libra rising, have you researched virgo rising as it's soooo close??

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exaltation_(astrology)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fall_(astrology)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detriment_(astrology)

venus in virgo is in it's FALL
sun in leo is domicile (at home) but not exalted either..
mercury is exalted in virgo
mars has neutral strength, but conj exalted mercury, can suggest being too forceful at speech (on occasions) and argumentativeness.
