Because we agree with you comrade waybread!

Trump supporters do seem like zealots who follow a strong orange leader. And the orange man is, after all, very bad! I agree 100% of with the argument proposed on this thread.

So what is the next move? re-education camps? Certainly if they are cultists, those evil thoughts should be purged! After all - Trump is a cult leader - a cult leader that does not abide by critical thinking.

How do these zealots dare to go against the glorious and perfect theories of socialism? A system which has been proven to succeed in every nation that has been implemented! Only a cultist zealot would refuse to give up their property!

Aha, comrade! So you do believe that Trump is a cult leader!

Thanks for so logically addressing each of the indicators of cult attributes among Trump's hard core fan base, as itemized in the OP.

HOLD ON!

Does this mean that Trump supporters could potentially form a church? Like given they are fanatically, almost religious about Trump and Jesus.

Does this mean they could legally become a protected religion and file for TAX-exempt status?

NooOoOooOo REEEEEEEEEEE:crying::crying:

Is there an Edgar Cayce cult discussion on this forum? If so, do the same principles apply?

comrade! do you concur Trump supporters are evil zealots? Give up your wrong thinking!

Evidence suggests Trump supporters are cultists. Because they love private property! That is clear evidence of fascist theology!

The subcult of Trumpism Cults exists, even - 'tis' true - if not soley because Mars in Pisces can't decide to poop in open water or squeak it out from behind a shark's apron, and most certainly not without some Aquarian master or mistress, which they won't call Saturn, to tell them which way to do it and how avoid their own mess. Our cadre does not approve. You have been warrned by the cult :bandit:

Hey, guys-- You do realize that you are displaying some of the earmarks of cult membership: demonizing individuals who hold an opposing view, avoiding critical thinking (judging from your posts), and refusing to admit that the cult leader has any flaws, even when these are manifestly apparent.

So I don't find your recent off-topic attempts at sarcasm to be very impressive. I get that you are angry at my audacity, however.

As I said in my OP, this isn't about Republicans vs Democrats, conservatives vs. liberals. If you wanna be a conservative, I'm not trying to talk you out of it. If you think Democrats are a bunch of communists-- never mind Vladimir Putin's grasp of Trump's.... what-evers-- this thread isn't about that.

I get that millions of sensible people voted for Trump for reasons other than that they loved him personally. They would have voted for a different Republican candidate, as well. Some Trump voters really care about conservative judge appointments, for example. Whether I agree or disagree with them isn't on-topic, however.

This particular is about whether Trump and his hard core fans show characteristics of a cult of personality.

Got it?

I mean, what kind of democracy-loving leader gets a few thousand people at a rally shouting, "Lock her up!!" about his political opponent? What kind of patriotic American reaches out to the QAnon crowd and argues for demonstrable falsehoods in order to undermine free and fair elections?

I'm waiting for someone on the Trump train to talk about what he actually accomplished in office-- preferably in a rational tone of voice. Or maybe someone who actually attended Trump rallies will say it was Good Clean Fun, comparable to wearing a Cheese Head hat at a Green Bay Packers game.

Whatever.

But try not to convince me that you actually have no rational arguments as to why Trump's die-hard fans do/do not treat him like a cult figure.

I just did some more googling and came across this article on Trump and cult followers in Psychology Today. https://www.psychologytoday.com/ca/.../donald-trump-and-his-followers-are-they-cult

The article discussed sever influential psychologists with expertise on politics and cults. This statement, I think puts its finger on the problem:

"For Lifton, Trump is not totalistic . . . he is not consistently ideological like many political leaders. Instead, he is a self-absorbed purveyor of a powerful but misleading narrative. Trump’s narrative runs this way: “As a strongman and a dealmaker, he will restore America to its rightful world-dominating military and economic power.”

"...there is “a ritual quality" to the chants that Trump encourages at his rallies: "Lock her up!" and "Build that wall.” Much of Trump’s base, in turn, “can be understood as cultist”—that is, as following a guru who serves as "teacher, guide, and master.” Lifton finds apocalyptic and messianic overtones in QAnon..."

Somebody correct me if I'm mistaken, but I believe the definition of fascism is:

"a form of far-right, authoritarian ultranationalism characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition and strong regimentation of society and of the economy..." (Wikipedia)

Or here's this definition: "a form of political practice ... that arouses popular enthusiasm by sophisticated propaganda techniques for an anti-liberal, anti-socialist, violently exclusionary, expansionist nationalist agenda."
https://www.livescience.com/57622-fascism.html

Ring a bell? Look at the anti-liberal, anti-socialist rhetoric on this thread-- as thought there were only two options in American politics-- personal allegiance to Trump or the worst excesses of the socialism of past decades.

Which is why Trumpism is an important topic in these difficult times.

Thanks, Osamenor.

I hope to read some serious discussion about whether or not there is a Trumpian cult of personality. Trump supporters who can stay on-topic are welcome.
