Moon in Cancer

Good day to all:

I am completley new at this so I hope I ask this question clearly. Not entirely sure if this is the right post to put this in .. however My .. " Sun " sign is .. CANCER ... however it is stated the MOON rules over Cancer.

My question is this .... How does or did a Moon become Ruler of my sign? Was it a Full Moon on that month when I was born? I'm not entirely show how that works. Was the Moon in a certain placement when I was born that stated the Moon is ruler of Cancer?

Any insight would greatly help me understand.

I hope I asked this question as clear as I could.

Anthony.

Re: Moon in Cancer

Each sign has a designated ruling planet. If you want to find out your moon sign, you need to cast a birth chart, with the time and place of your birth. You can do that at http://astro.com. Whatever sign the moon was in at the time of your birth, that is your moon sign.

So the moon may not neccesarily be in Cancer at the time of your birth, although it's possible.

The moon is associated with the emotions, home, family, maternal energies. So anyone born under the sign of Cancer is ruled by the moon.

Kronos:

First and for most I appreciate the answer. So basically it's about learning about my birth chart to understand it all. I would have to see where the Moon was placed at that day and time of my birth to finally say .. " I UNDERSTAND " once I learn how to interpret my birth chart.

Re: Moon in Cancer

Welcome to AW,

Attention new members
http://www.astrologyweekly.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19968
Starting out with basics—from our Education forum
http://www.astrologyweekly.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12556

May I suggest you read the 'welcome to the world of astrology and other ---sticky' at the top of this forum? It has some great explanations, links etc and also has links to forum rules & regs...At the top of every forum there are lots of ‘stickys’ which explain matters in that forum, along with guidelines, tips and forum rules

Basic astrology
Now basically your sun sign is your 'core beliefs, values, ego' and Asc is your physical body, mode of expression and mask and persona that we all wear and hide behind, but definitely not what's going on underneath. What's going on underneath is your Sun sign. Moon sign, house placements and aspects describe your emotional and intuitive responses, also describes your view of your mother, as saturn describes your father by sign and house position.

So, think of a glass milk bottle the bottle is your Asc and your sun the milk, but the milk still has to 'come out' through the glass neck of the milk bottle....

Now aspects within a natal chart represent 'facets' of our personality, because we are all multifaceted beings. What these do is 'break down and compartmentalise' these facets into smaller bite size chunks. This does take quite a lot of self analysis and objectivity to 'see yourself' and why you do certain things and behave in certain ways. Actually it can be quite good therapy...

Your natal chart is like a photograph as unique as your fingerprint, BUT the 10planets in the sky have not stayed where they were in your natal chart, they have all moved. Predictive astrology is mostly maths where those 10planets are now and the mathematical aspects they make to your natal charts ie: 180'=opposition, 90'=square, 60'=sextile and 120'=trine.

So your personality, grows, develops, changes, matures as we get older, this is reflected by your sun sign changing from it's natal position to the next sign along, so does your Asc and MC sign change. In fact from sun to mars espec are important, as the outer planets really don't move much, using a 'day for a year' secondary progressions.
