Indicators of creative success in natal chart

Hello all,

I have a couple questions about being successful in the arts. I recently graduated from college with a degree in acting, and have been having a difficult time sticking with it. Since childhood, I have wanted to be a successful performer, and have had much luck with it as a youth. I received many awards and roles as a student, and desperately want to continue my success as an adult. However, I have extreme problems with insecurity and depression, which frequently inhibit me from going on auditions. Are there any indicators in my chart of possible creative ability or success in such a field? It would be greatly appreciated, since I'm at a standstill in terms of career and life direction. Thanks so much.

Jackie, I find your question interesting. This is because this type of question is common on this board. It is the "Can I, will I, could I?" kind of question. The answer to this - as always - is: "If you want to, you can do anything at all."

The question that perhaps you need to be asking is: "What is stopping me from achieving my goals and dreams?"

Anyone can act. We all spend a large part of each day putting on some kind of act. It's the putting it together in a sustained way so that it can be called a career which is the hard part, and this takes a large amount of self-belief.

There is plenty on your chart which indicates a high level of sensitivity to your environment. You have 3 significant personal planets in the 8th house, so you are very `tuned in' to what is going on aorund you. However, you also have a couple (and there may be more, but I am just looking briefly at your chart) of aspects which give you a high level of tuned-in-ness, but at the same time both these placements can be your undoing.

  • Moon opposition Pluto: powerful, and often overwhelming emotions, which at times can sink into a sense of hopelessness. People with this aspect can have difficulties (in the guise of power struggles) with their mothers, or with women in general.
  • Moon trine Neptune: This is a strong artistic placement, but it can also lead to negative thinking. This is because you are so `open' that you easily pick up negative vibrations in your environment.
The key to overcoming negativity is to discipline the mind. Not an easy task when you're artistic. You currently have transiting Pluto conjunct your natal Neptune, and this is not helping, as it will dampen any self-belief which you may have. This transit will expose all your hidden fears and weaknesses. The key is to go ahead and work through all your fears - fears are pretty much always just lies - in order to clean out your unconscious. Your conscious seems keen and ready, but your unconscious mind is being held back in some way.

You're absolutely right, particularly with the moon opposite pluto aspect. I've always had a troubling relationship with my mother, which probably helped to build my feelings of insecurity and mistrust not only of others, but of myself as well. Also, it's interesting to see the transits at the time, because I have been feeling incredibly confused. Thank you for taking the time out, and for such a detailed response. It's much appreciated.

I know this is true of me; I'm very impressionable to anyone around me but on my own I can create almost anything it seems !

Your mercury is your most challenged planet here -- quincunx to saturn, conj mars = to forceful at speech and argumentative, mercury square jupiter = overtalk when you should be quiet and undertalk when you should be talking. Mercury opp Neptune 'deceive or be deceived'

:mercury: quincunx :saturn:
"We are not good at saying what we mean, and this can cause misunderstandings. Fear and loneliness invade our thinking, too, and it is not impossible to be troubled by a phobia at some period of our lives. We may do our level best to ingratiate ourselves with other by sheer hard work, we may become cynical and develop a sarcastic band of humour, or we may creep into a shell to escape anything on the outside that might hurt us. Although we can be as hard as nails and very disciplined in our thinking we mistrust staying power and abilities and limit ourselves more than necessary."
From the book ‘Aspects and Personality’ by Karen Hamaker-Zondag

Your MC is very well asepcted with lots of easy trine 120' aspects, but Virgo doesn't crave the limelight and prefers to take backstage and Scorpio Asc is a very very private sign and not that sociable either. Then you have 3planets in 8th house of scorpio. Your chart ruler is pluto and placed in 12th -- difficult.

Ruler of the First House in the Twelfth House
"Your outlook on life can be brought into balance by spending some time alone to meditate and recharge your batteries.
Avoid becoming your own adversary by falling into the "woe is me" victim trap. Spiritual philosophies that go beyond traditional orthodox viewpoints can bring revealing insights into your life and the meaning of it all. You may identify somehow with large public institutions that provide a service to society, especially the helping professions."

Now in Equal house system Jupiter is in 6th house of health and daily routines, Pisces rules 5th and Neptune is placed in 2nd house of how you earn your money -- which is the only possible indicator of any acting and Neptune can wear a uniform or hat and doesn't really care how much money it earns. I have Neptune/pisce ruling my 2nd and I earn money from psychic and tarot card readings...

Having 2planets and mars conj 9th house cusp (and is more effective their) the focus would be on 8th house issues

Trust your talents and deal with this obstruction, "extreme problems with insecurity and depression." What is the cause of it? Determine to heal from it and free yourself. Decide that is the result you want. Then open yourself up to learning how.

It will take a professional consult to answer your very important questions. Short of that, I'd say determine to heal and free yourself. Open up and ask the Universe to show you how and make it clear so there is no doubt.

You may be amazed at what happens.

Even though Cancer is a very creative sign, I know that Mars is in its fall in Cancer, which may explain why I'm reluctant to start things with my career.

yeh, as Kannon suggested 'positive mental attitude' goes a long long way to achieving what you desire. Anything is possible, don't let astrology limit or define who or what you do!

mars in cancer
"inclines toward passive-aggressiveness. These people seem to resist change and to shy away from direct confrontations. They need to feel secure before they act. As a result, they can appear rather slow at times. Their motto is "The best offence is defense". They may appear weak to some, but they can be very strong. Their strength lies in their tenaciousness."

Your mars is conj9th house cusp and should be interpreted their, which is good for study, travel, all 9th house matters.. I have found that mars in cancer tends to (given half a chance) interfere with family matters to:whistling:

Hi,

....Are there any indicators in my chart of possible creative ability or success in such a field?..

Your chart indicates a big amount of creative talent and a fair bit of success, but the success part will ultimately depend a lot on you and how eager you are to bring forth that talent and creative aptitude by working on your attitude of "insecurity and depression". Your chart says you can do it (Sat in the first house may mean a sombre attitude, but also a resolute one, if you set your heart on something).:)

The following reflect your creative talent:

Mer-Moon - with Mer being your MC's ruler and the Moon trining your MC (Moon can bring about fame in public- MC). Your Moon is a strong one and one of fine artistic tastes and an aesthetic sense - that's Moon in Tau. Here you need to work on your Moon-Plu aspect, which can want to always be in control of the situation, and, if that does not happen, fear may set in of losing it all, but that's just in your mind.

Sun and Ven in Gemini - now we all know that Gem is quite creative and a 'people's sign, wanting to communicate with the world in some way (acting is one such way). With the Sun and Mer in the 8th house, sometimes you might feel that something holds you back and might want to work from behind that scenes- endorsed also by the Sco Asc that is quiet, observant and discreet, but always wanting power and control of the situation. It could also be that you start writing acting scripts (Moon-Mer also makes great writers).

Mars - Jup - never mind if Mars is (weak) in Cancer, it is aspected by a fiery Jup (of Aries) and wants you to build up your confidence, to grow and reach new heights - use this aspect (especially, everytime fear sets in - think of this aspect). A 5th-house Jup (in the astro house of the Sun) further indicates strong (acting) talent and good fortune attached to it (Jup also aspects your MC - what more do you want), so all you have to do is let your Sun come out of the grips of those 8th-house fears and shine.

Nep-Moon - lot of imaginative plus emotional power that goes beyond boundaries, and a sense of tranquility - all of which you can use for a great acting career.

So, as you can see, you have it all there in your chart - talent galore and a lot of astrological backing, but you have to work on yourself, which you can through your Scorpionic and Saturnian resolution - just stick to it and believe in yourself. What really astrologically impresses me is that all the planets associated with creativity, talent, fame and good fortune (Moon, Mer, Nep, Jup, Sun) and Plu (power) aspect your MC (career and one's standing in public). This is simply superb, so go for it. :)

Although I see Jupiter in the house of performing arts and quite well aspected, I see it more as a pastime or an amateur status. There is not much indication for career huge success with acting and being out there. I can see perhaps photography, film and editing, scripting ,screenplays perhaps and television work. WOrking for large corporations and global distributors but more behind the scenes and
working from home or with family.

Are you seeking medical help with your depression and anxiety. This is indicated in the 12th house.

Sorry this has taken so long to reply. Also, thank you for the detailed responses. I really means a great deal. Over the course of the past couple months, I have been going to therapy for my depression and anxiety, and it has helped me greatly. I have an agent now and have been in some commercials. I'd have to agree that my greatest inhibitor is indeed myself. Once again, thank you for the responses.
