Harmful treatment?

I need some medical treatment. However, as I live in the UK, and come under the NHS, the medical treatment which I am offered is more generic, rather than tailored and, due to what it entails, it has the potential to harm me a lot. I hesitate to give it a go because, if it does harm me, I come back to the issue that the NHS cannot afford to fund specialised treatment. On the other hand, this treatment could be helpful to me.

The treatment is represented by the Sun, which is in my domicile and exaltation. That tells me it could be quite helpful. However Sun's conjunction with Uranus makes me wonder if it would prove to be the disaster I anticipate.

Your help is very much appreciated.

Are you able to say in a general way (a) the nature of your illness, or at least, the system or body part affected? Also what are the known unwanted side effects of this treatment? Is it a form of medication or something else?

That would be helpful.

Hello Waybread, Thank you for your reply. <3

It is psychotherapy. I need it for trauma following sexual abuse. It needs to be one to one therapy.

The therapy they are offering is a group therapy paradigm, with all sorts of people, with no confidentiality.

My concern is that some of those people may be personality disordered, and I was told that can be the case. It can be all sorts.

The obvious issue is that I can get more traumatised by the possible outcomes, than I am now. And then nothing. I would have entered of my own free will.

My other concern is that it would not be therapeutic anyway since I do not need the input of the other lay people. I have plenty lay people in my life who I trust, if that is what I need, rather than to expose myself to disordered strangers.

That is why I am concerned about that Sun/Uranus conjunction, about to enter my H8. With Sun in my domicile/exaltation, it seems like there is potential for the treatment to be helpful. But then the Uranus conj. seems to define the treatment. Then again, maybe Sun burns Uranus and renders it powerless. I am more inclined to see Uranus as a fixed star, though, which may mean it is exempt from the combustion effect an inner planet would get.

So, in answer to your question, there is no medication involved. I am concerned, fundamentally, about this offer being additionally traumatic and not the therapy I need, and I end up worse off, rather than better, which is the purpose of treatment.

Thank you, again, for your time. <3

Sophie, thanks for clarifying this.

One thing you might ask about is whether this group will entail any pressure for you to share any information about yourself that you prefer to keep private. If not, you might still find the other members' sharing to be triggering for you, so if you do have PTSD or an anxiety disorder stemming from your trauma, will there be any kind of safety net for you beyond the group meetings? If you do (or do not) sign up for the group therapy is there still an option for you to meet one-on-one with a therapist in the near future, if one becomes available? Finally is any harm done if you try out the group for a session or two, and then withdraw if it doesn't suit you? (This might be something like a limited enrollment for the group, such that someone else couldn't join who wanted to.)

If there is a benefit from hearing about other people's traumas and how they address them, perhaps you would find the group to be beneficial.

At present, is this your only option? I'm not familiar with health care in your country but in North America there are some charitable organizations offering mental health counseling based on one's ability to pay. (Catholic Family Services is one, and clients need not be Catholic. There is also no proselytizing.)

With Libra rising, you are symbolized by Venus. She's in detriment in your 6th house of health. However, just after you posted she perfected a nice sextile to a domiciled Mercury. Mercury rules the chart's 11th house of groups and acquaintances.

Modern astrology doesn't make much of combustion, and it does interpret Uranus as the ruler of psychology. In the 7th house, you might even find more one-on-one counseling available within the group setting. Sun conjunct Uranus form a partile sextile to Mars, ruler of your 6th house of health. that is beneficial.

What concerns me primarily is the moon (your emotional stake in the matter) squaring Jupiter. Jupiter normally isn't a hardball planet and it is domiciled, but you might have to count on know-it-alls (Jupiter) in the group generating some emotional discomfort (moon) for you.

But I think you have the intellectual resources to deal with such people if they are part of the group. (Domiciled Mercury, Gemini moon in the 9th.)

Good luck with your decision, Sofie.

Best wishes for your journey towards wholeness and health.
