Hello, fellow cancer risings!

Hey! I'm paula, completely into astrology... I've been 'studying' it for a year now, but i'm getting serious with it since last 2 weeks...
I find astrology fascinating and beautiful and i wake up in the morning and im excited to keep studying it!
I have a personal question though... My ascendant is in cancer, and it provides me with a great deal of anxiety/shyness/awkwardness/ insability to be the center of attention or to show any of my qualities in groups, does anyone struggle with this? anything that can help overcoming it/soothing it? This side of me only shows in certain situations, in some others im the most confident and laidback person...

Tens of hundreds of millions of people
all with different ascendants
have a similar experience of sometimes being shy, sometimes confident
People are shy and/or confident for different reasons

but
their natal charts are all different

that's because astrological chart reading is a complex exercise
that cannot be achieved in seconds
by simply drawing conclusions based on ascendant sign

Nice to meet you all! Thanks for the input!I have a cancer Sun and and leo acendant and struggle with the same problem. I think every sign has its good and bad sides. I am trying to embrace my sensitive and nurturing, although it is totally contrasting my acendant!

Welcome to the forum

Something to take into account is the house and sign your moon is placed in. Since you are a cancer ascendant - then Moon is the ruler of your chart. And aspects to it, the sign it falls in and the house it is in are important key factors in your overall personality as well as appearance.

but
your Moon is not necessarily the chart ruler

because
it's a matter of opinion in astrology regarding the ruler of the chart
as time passes and you investigate, learn, study and test techniques
you decide for yourself

traditionally then, the ruler of the chart is the strongest planet
or
Almutem Figuris which is an old doctrine
where one planet according to certain calculations applied
receives the honors to be the Ruler or Lord of the Chart.

The word 'Almutes' is an Arabian word which means 'Winner'.

because
the planet is the Winner of all the 'life giving' places.

each with its own methodology

Yes, I am in agreement with that.

But singling out something I brought into the conversation, to debate over can come across as not very polite. You know what I mean, it's been the same with the Pluto topics.
An alternative approach - you could just bring your own Methodology into the conversation about different techniques you use for determining ruler of the chart and just don't quote material of forum members methodologies who you are in disagreement with. So it becomes a conversation for learning, not a debate.

We are all learners - astrology is a never-ending journey of astrological discovery
and in order to fully learn and explore
we need to check as many methodologies as possible
and so after checking my comments
do check other methodologies also
because no astrologer is using the right or wrong technique
we all simply have our own individual astrological opinions
and as time passes paulademourl you shall develop your own preferred methodology
