Progressed Charts

Is there a professional astrologer here who specialises in progressed charts that I can perhaps buy a service from? Where do I go?

I have never looked at these progressed charts but I just for fun did one - no wonder I feel out of sorts in my appearance!!! I now have a capricorn asc! I used to be very fun in my dress sense, very quirkly but sophisticated, I have been SO BORING for a while

When I get my Aquarius ASC am I going to turn even weirder and wear funky clothes not sure when this happens but it WILL be age inappropriate!

OMG I have 6 progressed planets in the 9th house and they are all going to move over my natal MC sometime in the next few years/months - what is going to happen, will I even have a career, a social standing - is this ruinous? This must mean something big. Uranus on the MC now THAT explains all the different paths and unexpected changes.

Where do I go to understand this! not sure if you compare it to your natal chart or what. or do you draw up a progressed chart and look at transits to IT?

The solar eclipse July 22 is exactly sqaure my progressed true Node - what is a true node - I think it is to do with Karma?

SORRY that made it sound like Cappy ASC are boring - didn't mean that :( Just a HUGE change from my oh so colourful Jupiter shell

secondary progressions
Some web pages you might find helpful:

http://www.aquamoonlight.co.uk/progressions.html
http://cafeastrology.com/secondaryprogressions.html

From saturn to pluto these planets hardly move, in fact uranus has only moved 2' since your birth date, although IF your time of birth is correct is it approaching MC.

But more importantly your prossed sun is next year conj your natal moon in Leo. Also cafeastrology do offer professional reports if you want to pay for one..
This year should mark a level of getting in touch with your feelings beyond your wildest expectations. In a phrase, the way you act and react suddenly become one. You have reached an equilibrium few are privileged to achieve, so watch what you are doing right as it happens, you may be called on to repeat it. This is a powerful influence and denotes an entire change in the native's life, producing either advancement and elevation to a much better state of things, or a critical period in which a crisis of affairs is reached, and important changes follow.

Just to check your time is correct using solar arcs then, Age 4 SA Uranus conj MC disruptions, upheavals within family, sudden relocation anyone suddenly disappear or pass away? Age 6 SA Pluto conj MC major transformations within family dynamics? Age 22 first love? House move age 25? Age 18 SA IC conj Saturn in 4th any heavy responsibilities with family? anyone distant, aloof?

You have calculated your chart using the default on astro.com of placidus and I use Equal House system and am a modern astrologer. Lots of people that come into Astrology get their free charts calculated at www.astro.com and the default ‘house system’ used is Placidus and think that’s just the norm and all that there is……..BUT that is just the tip of the iceberg. You can change the default on astro.com in Extended Chart selection to Equal house and a few more.

Now your Uranus and Pluto are in the10th in Equal house, Moon, venus and jupiter in 9th (cos it's within 5' orb of 9th cusp) Have you wanted to live abroad from your birth place? This is a typical aspect for emigration and pleasure in different countries

With having your sun and mercury in 8th and trine to neptune in 12th I would expect you to be quite psychic also? Saturn square sun and mercury shows a problem with father from childhood maybe ineffective or strict? Your saturn is conj 5th house cusp which could delay matters romantically or perhaps not wanting the responsibility of children either

Your progressed moon soon will conj IC which is great time to move house

Did you know that www.astro.com has free six month transit forecaster

Hi that was really kind of you to look at that - yes I know astro does 6 months - are they any good ? - I tend to buy personal readings (as opposed to computerised)if I can just wanted to try and understand how this progressions thing worked myself a bit as well

My time is correct as far as the hospital wrote it on birth cert. Here is some feedback on your comments and ONLY one question! when you say notice what you are doing with Prog Sun conj N Moon because I may have to repeat WHEN should I notice?

I have had 2 rapid career changes already, one TOTALLY out of the blue and now tying to start up AGAIN :( both ended in legal battles of a sorts too I guess there may be more looking at this - real crossroads in terms of what I want to do in life now

That sounds really exciting the Prog Sun conj N Moon! Although I hope the Leo in there is tempered a bit :)

"Age 4 SA Uranus conj MC disruptions, upheavals within family, sudden relocation anyone suddenly disappear or pass away? Age 6 SA Pluto conj MC major transformations within family dynamics? Age 22 first love? House move age 25? Age 18 SA IC conj Saturn in 4th any heavy responsibilities with family? anyone distant, aloof?"

Just moved ALL THE TIME but stable parents marriage (my dads job) and thanks no disappearances, dont know about first love, had many in retrospect they look silly infatuations! Mother distant, aloof

Yes I am never really sure about the whole house thing - I guess people chose their favourites but that doesn't make sense as to me that can really change the whole picture? not sure I understand the system choices so I just opt for the one defaulted but I think prob the equal is easier (more level playing field)

This whole 9th house I have lived abroad until 20 all over the place and no desire to re-locate as such but do enjoy holidays away and until recently traveled with job, but i am studying LOT for the first time and i think that is 9th as well?

people say I am very psychic not embraced that fully (yet) I think the venus virgo logic inhibits that a bit but also helps me master techniques to exploring that energy. maybe next year will help progress that too, I am interested, a little scared too

I know it is saturn therefore symbolic father/male but THAT is my mother, withdrawn, unemotional, etc

yes no babies until 39 for me! I am now blessed with 2, shame I left t so late or I'd have had 4!

gosh have no desire to move AGAIN unless I win the lottery

I will look up those links and cafeastrology

thanks for your generosity and sharing and teachings :)

Hi Fernby.........Welcome to the forum.

I'm not sure how much benefit you would get from purchasing the services of a professional, as you seem more than competent enough to interpret progressed charts yourself.........You just need a little guidance on how to go about it for the first time.

.....not sure if you compare it to your natal chart or what. or do you draw up a progressed chart and look at transits to IT?

I'm not a professional astrologer, but (fyi) my views upon the progressed chart are as follows :-

The natal chart reveals our character/instinctive behaviour patterns and what we need to change about them in the course of our lifetime........The progressed chart shows the natally instinctive behaviour that we have an opportunity to change in the course of each year of our life........Transits to the natal and progressed charts bring events that involve the instinctive behaviour pattern that we need to change.........And, the most significant event is likely to occur when the progression (and the related transit) is exact.

Not all events arising from transits are significant.......Only those which trigger a progressed chart to natal chart aspect tend to be "life-changing".....Thus, we can experience difficult events that are not significant in terms of our astrological development.

______________________________________
So, my approach to your progressed chart would be as follows :-

1. Focus primarily upon the fast moving/personal planets......since planets from Jupiter outwards tend to move very little by progression.

2. Note all progressed chart to natal chart aspects.......since these indicate opportunities for significant change.

3. Attempt a general interpretation of what these aspects mean.......(I use Robert Hand's "Planets in Transit" descriptions for this, adjusting for the fact that progressions reflect inner changes rather than external events).

4. Identify the transits that will trigger these aspects over the 12 month period of the progressed chart.

5. Assess how the transitting planet will "colour" your general interpretation.....So, now you have an idea of what to expect; when to expect it and how you might learn from it.

6. At the time of the transit, monitor/notice your behaviour (as advised by Astrologer50)........note how this affects the outcome of the event, and consider how behaving differently might have resulted in a different outcome.

7. If the actual outcome was not what you wanted, you need to change your behaviour (to that which would have got you what you wanted).
_______________________________________
Have to go now.........But, I do have some specific comments to add later about your progressed chart..........Meanwhile, I hope this is helpful rather than an outline of "how to suck eggs".

Gosh you are both really helpful thanks - I really like point 6 and I will keep an eye on that, and it ihas given me more confidence to try it out myself. Sometimes though you are too subjective to look at yourself and I have this silly Neptune transit at the moment (not progressed) that landed me in real trouble twice now (all my dreams came crashing down due to a terrible decision)

I think I have an intuitive approach to astrology and I have read lots but I hate getting bogged down in all the maths (although I can do that level of detail) I love the symbolism and the planets and energies and how the energies relate to the aspects.

And now thanks to you I can look at the progressed side :)

Fernby,
I did buy a report from Astro and I found it to be wonderful!
I have bought three reports from them total.

They are quite expensive and I agree with EJ that if I took the time I could have actually done this myself.

I guess I like instant gratification. Now I would have saved my money and done my own research, by getting help from the forum.

Yes for me it is the confidence to be subjective when it comes to my own chart, and I like instant gratification as well.

Also although I am can be very intuitive, I also can overlook some pretty major things as well - I kind of look at a chart and if something jumps (speaks) out at me then I go for that and often don't see sometimes some more important influences and piecing it all togtehr is really hard for me. Interpreting one transit or one aspect fine I think I am Ok but after that....kind of like knitting...I am a near perfect knitter but when it comes to putting the whole thing together I actually get someone else to do it or it ruins the end result.

I just really not qualified or experienced enough especially when it comes to things where I need to know what the major influence are help me make decisions

I WISH SO MUCH I HAD CONSULTED ASTROLOGY before I made a massive mess up, it was TRULY monumental and kind of like something turned from the absolute best thing in the world (the was THE answer to what I was meant to do/be) to the absolute worst - that pesky Neptune blinding me  I am still reeling..hope I can salvage something

orbs, to EJ

EJ,

You said:

Great suggestions! I would also add that you want to look for the aspects with the smallest orbs (how close a planet or point can be and still be in aspect of each other) with progressions. In general, progressions won't be strongly experienced until the planets are about 3 degrees or less from each other in aspect.

Orbing,

Tim

Then a professional report can be a very useful tool.......used directly, for self-development and to guide through "what might lie ahead"......and indirectly, for learning how the astrologer converts astrological data/indicators into possible events.......But, for the latter, be sure to ask the astrologer to "list and explain" the data/indicators rather than just interpret them.

Personally, I'd be happy to pay for a report from any of the professional astrologers on this forum (and many of the non-professionals)........but most of them would probably advise you to contact a professional astrological institution for a list of members practicing near where you live, as a face-to-face consultation can be invaluable to "clients".........(Edit : Modern technology, such as Skype, now makes "remote astrologer/client contact" almost as effective as "face-to-face contact".)

This is perhaps the most important point of all.........So, I'm repeating it below :-

".......you want to look for the aspects with the smallest orbs (how close a planet or point can be and still be in aspect of each other) with progressions. In general, progressions won't be strongly experienced until the planets are about 3 degrees or less from each other in aspect"

Useful information can be gleaned from looking at the progressed chart on it's own.

For example Fernby, your "day-for-a-year" progressed chart (for the year from 10th July 2009) shows Pisces/Virgo intercepted in 2nd/8th houses.......together with moon/chiron/venus/uranus and pluto......which has been the case since late 2003, but is about to end around July 2010......And I think this may be the astrological indicator of the "massive mess up" to which you refer........However, the duplicated Sagittarius on houses 11/12 (and Gemini on 5/11) indicate that something about your attitude in the 5th/11th houses needs to change this year......Any idea what that might be?

Hmmm if this goes on until July 2010 I'll collapse
The massive mess up came shortly after a near-legal situation with my prior employer (which I ended up happily compromising on) I have searched my soul and feel justified in fighting for my rights (but you can probably see I am headstrong about ideals and what is right and wrong, but I am not longer as stubborn about this as I was)

Then though I was totally blinded by an investment/career choice and it has turned into a nightmare nightmare nightmare - more about the dissolution of dreams and hopes and the sheer disbelief in how rotten and false people can be to get something from you than the money (although lost there as well) and I am having to legally extract myself (group activity) which is happening NOW.

I need to change my attitude about 5th and 11th subjects? Hmm I tend to be a leader in groups - maybe even a reactionary, it probably means I need to enjoy myself more, spend more time with the kids, and friends and get more pleasure from life...hard to do when you need to make a living and have no idea what you are going to do next for work! Or is it more complicated than that?

Sagittarius is on 11th house cusp/Gemini is on 5th house cusp.........Maybe you are an idealist, dealing with groups that are pragmatic.........What is right might not always what is best......Perhaps you need to sacrifice your principles in the best interests of the group?

[Note : Pisces/Virgo were intercepted in the 9th/3rd houses in your progressed charts from Age 7 to 11..........So, "you've been here before" and can learn something from whatever happened then.]

not sure I can remember anything in this vein at that age

I think it is more a case of I am sacrificing myself in the best interests of the principles of the group, the group cannot speak for themselves so there really isn't a group anymore except in spirit (as most groups like this end up dissolving through finance or fear) - not that I am a martyr or anything but maybe what it is trying to teach me is to stop being like this (or to deal with it another way)

I guess I will continue until I am told it is inadvisable as the action is not just for the group, I don't have a lot of choice, but I am not THAT pigheaded....yes I do have a really tough time not standing up to bullies or immoral behaviour especially when done to vulnerable people and because I will stick my neck out or stand up to it of course I DO attract the backlash.

YES it is VERY interesting to look at the progressed chart on its own - is the interpretation similarly done as in a natal chart? This is where I get SO confused with which house system to use!

Prog Moon opp Prog Pluto on end of 2nd/8th house - emotional power struggles over mine and others money?

With Equal house you don't get intercepted signs or houses, cos each house is the same size, but you do get different 4&10th house cusps, but MC is MC in whaterever house system. It's really only with study and research will you be able to indentify and see which 'glove fits best' for you and which planets move from which house to see yourself more clearly.

With Equal house you don't get intercepted signs or houses......Now your Uranus and Pluto are in the10th in Equal house, Moon, venus and jupiter in 9th (cos it's within 5' orb of 9th cusp)

With Placidus, The Uranus/Pluto conjunction is close enough to the MC to be regarded as being in the 10th house and Moon/Venus are in 9th house in both systems......So, in that respect, I see the Equal House system as adding no further information to what's already shown in the Placidus Chart.

However in Equal House, Jupiter is effectively in 9th rather than 8th and Saturn moves from 4th to 5th (whilst at the same degree as all 12 house cusps)........bringing these two planets into greater prominence than in the Placidus Chart.

But, if Jupiter in Leo/9th points to the power of Fernby's beliefs.......and the Aries/5th house Saturn contact with every house cusp indicates the personal power available from learning by experience.......I'd argue that these confirm (show in another way) the meaning of the progressed interceptions which arise from the Placidus natal chart.

Therefore, with regard to which house system is "best", my view is that the significant astrological lessons will be revealed by all systems......but the astrological indicators may be different........So, as Astrologer50 advises, we should each experiment with the various systems to determine which of them "works best for us".

Fernby said:

Yes.......The progressed chart is the natal chart, "unfolding as it should" as we get older/learn from our experiences......Thus, the orbs of some natal aspects get closer/tighter; others grow wider; new ones appear; old ones disappear; etc.............Assess the chart using natal interpretations, but remember that it shows where you should be (in terms of lessons learned) rather than where you are.......(Sadly, most of us will find we lag behind the progressed chart throughout our lives......because we learn from (time-consuming) experiences rather than through the Law of Grace.)

As explained above, you should use the house system that you find easiest to understand..........which may change as your knowledge/requirements of astrology expands..........However, my comments here are based upon your Placidus Chart (which is my preferred house system).
_________________________________________

Ok, the aim is to serve others (Pisces/Virgo).....the interception indicates that you cannot be fully effective in doing so until.....you identify/change the "wrong-thinking" about 5th/11th house activities.

Think of the group as "others" rather than a specific body......How did your experiences from age 7 to 11 make you proud to be someone who will "stick your neck out; stand up for others and endure the backlash/consequences of doing so"?
______________________________________________
.....Prog Moon opp Prog Pluto on end of 2nd/8th house - emotional power struggles over mine and others money?

Yes.......but Jupiter in Leo/7th is semi-sextile Pluto and qcx Moon.....Those powerful beliefs of yours will play a part in the outcome.

So this progression might mean, Pluto in Virgo (transformed thinking) regarding Moon in Pisces (subconscious Piscean/"outdated" values) but resisted by powerful beliefs.

Change your thinking/behaviour and you change the outcome...........Perhaps that's Saturn's message now, as it transits over your natal/progressed Pluto and sets off the related configurations therein.

Thanks that is a very good explanation of how you should view the progressed charts.

My Jupiter "feels" like its in 9th natally anyway (in fact if questioned I would have sworn it was but it isn't!!!) (maybe because of my sag asc/jupiter there too) so maybe this is now more comfortable for me (ha ha talk about studying and getting qualifications this year, comng out of my ears!!!), although I have been fortunate through others money in my life (natal jupiter in 8th) and I really TRY not to be lazy about my grand trine (jup-asc-Sat) gifts (but I am :()

What are the other 9th house influences? religion, study, travel, OH NO LEGAL that is not good - anything else?

Yes I guess (only through trying to impress my mother) I felt proud for sticking up for people and my beliefs when I was younger - where is this Pisces/Virgo interception you mention - what is an interception sorry! Is that cause there are so many planets in Virgo in the progressed chart?

Gosh I am not sure what I need to change - I am changing what I am going to do in future in terms of work and that is more focussed on helping others and I AM throwing away / clearing out old ideals (getting away from the bad mistake I made - which was an idealistic dream - through being proactive about it) I guess maybe that could be it

Thanks I have learned so much through this about progressions, to think I didn't know anything about it a few days ago!

Aha never knew 11th house was aspirations and sense of true inner purpose

Acquaintances and friends, groups, organizations, hopes, wishes, aspirations, personal goals, our sense of our true inner purpose, our sense of the group, humanity.
