Please help me understand Nodes

Hey guys I just recently went deeper into astrology and I see people talking about North Nodes/South Nodes a lot in synastry and I would like to have a look at this stuff for myself. Are there any, for lack of a better word, Node synastry calculators out there?

When people say things like 'My <planet> conjuncts his South Node!' is that something they work out in their head or is there a calculator for it?

Furthermore, when I found out what my own North Node was, it said I was in Capricorn but on the CafeAstrology natal report it says my South Node is in Aries, when logically it should be in Cancer. Granted it's only one website, but still a bit confusing.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Post your birth chart on the forum, instructions here so that others may help you. If you want a synastry chart, post your partners' chart too. You'll see there is a synastry option under the advanced settings on www.astro.com too. With these 3 charts posted (2 birth charts and 1 synastry) others are able to help you.

all the best

Awesome. Would it be better if once I get the charts if I start a new thread in the Relational Astrology forum or just post em here?

Thanks for your help!

Remember the node points are 180 degress opposite: so if a site indicates otherwise, then that site is incorrect in that delineation.
The best available book (in English)-in my opinion (and I give great attention to the Nodes, especially the South Node-the Dragon's Tail) is by Judith Hill, easily available from astroamerica.com, entitled "The Lunar Nodes: your key to excellent chart interpretation". You will find pretty much all you need to know, and to use, in a close study of this book.

node in synastry making connections to another personal planets or Angles ie: Asc/Desc are good, but the max orb should be no more than 3'

In synastry I use tight orbs and view aspects between one person's outer planets to the other person's inner planets as being "karmic connections"......usually with the outer planet person doing the teaching and the inner planet person doing the learning.

Get your chart done on Astrodienst and tick the Mean node box and it will appear..... Sometimes when a planet conjuncts very closely to some one's South Node there is a past life connection and with any significant relationship the nodes are nearly always invovled in some way.

May I ask Claire, who is the one who has to learn the lesson in this significant relationship in THIS lifetime? Is it the person with the South Node or the person who has planets conjunct the 1st person's SN? I have some planets conjunct my fathers' South Node.

What's the difference between mean and true node?
Is there a way for the astro.com chart to show the south node as well?

SN is what is holding us back from reaching our potential. It's more important to focus on North Node. Father's South node has been there done that. So my theory is the person's Node which is learning. So maybe your planets could teach father a facet of something which he already knows. Now because first half of life is spent overcoming and dealing with present/past life conditions the Node has valuable experience to be offered the planets ascpecting Nodes. I feel it can go both ways....
