The feeling of being on a roadtrip with the hand-break down

Hi, iseethelight. In effect, this chart design isn't very easy to read.
They might have been referring to your uranus/saturn conjunction, which in effect is two different types of energy, one explosive and the other restraining, that don't blend. So at times you are emotionally independent and expansive, and other times serious and yearning for someone nearby to rely on.
One thing that might get you down is the moon in a wide opposition with that Saturn, that could make you feel alone and down.
Saturn recently squared your ascendent, which puts restraints on you, as did the pluto square to ascendent that passed previously.
You have the capacity to look on the positive side of things, with moon squaring Jupiter and opposing Uranus.
Mercury and Jupiter both in pisces are very sensitive and impressionable, but also intuitive.
This quality is also reflected in the Venus/Neptune conjunction.
Jupiter is on the way, you'll find yourself much more buoyant. Check an ephemeris to see when it will be touching your planets and aspecting your ascendent.

Are you referring to the ephemeris?
It's like a calendar. The left vertical column has the day of the month, and moving right you see in each column the position of each planet and the nodes on every day.

Exactly this: "...comparing the degrees of the planet when I was born, and the current degree".
If your sun is at 5 degrees aires you check the positions of the planets for 5 degrees aires on the ephemeris. You should be able to handle this. It is the easy part. Especially if you "have been reading about astrology for 10 years and know all the basics".
The difficult part comes afterwards, when you evaluate what the sun represents in your chart and how the transiting planet will effect it and the rest of your chart: the interpretation.
