Algol

I was reading another post and they mentioned Algol. I really don't know alot about this star. I have Spica right on my ASC along with asteroid Cupido, but really have not delved into the meaning of stars.

So would it be wise to say watching for transits of progressed planets to this star would be important or not so?

Also what degree do you use to know if you have a planet affected by this star. Example my Sun is 19 Taurus..seems to big of an orb to use there. Even asteroids I keep it tight. Not sure about stars though.

I checked when my progressed sun was conjunct it, also then my progressed mars was square my progressed pluto. Transiting wise I had Saturn conjuncting my natal pluto and squaring my natal mars.

This is the time I went through the extensive sexual abuse by all the men in my family. So I could say it was the transits but would like to know any role Algol plays in things like this.

I looked up what I could find and this is what it says. And Algol falls into my 8th house is that bad?

General influence of the star: It causes misfortune, violence, decapitation, hanging, electrocution and mob violence, and gives a dogged and violent nature that causes death to the native or others. It is the most evil star in the heavens.

and what does culminating mean?

If culminating: Murder, sudden death, beheading, prone to murder and mischief. If at the same time in conjunction with Sun, Moon or Jupiter, gives victory over others in war.

With the Hyleg and angular, decapitation or a murderer who meets with a violent death.

Also I read there is a Caput algol? What's the difference? Or is this still the same star?

says

Caput Algol *
The Gorgon's HeadPrimitive female sexuality; strangulation, beheading, danger to throat and neck, murder, violence, the "Evil One"; passionate; intense; hysterical26° Taurus 10Very UnfortunateSaturn/ Jupiter

I would truly like to learn about this from anyone that has some ideas, knowledge, theories about the importance of stars in natal charts and progressions. Thanks and what about a composite chart are stars important?

Thanks:rolleyes:

I'm fascinated now by the importance of fixed stars so I was reading thru here and it says Deneb Adige at 5 Pisces rules dog bites among other things so I tested it. Last year Oct 26 2005 I was walking to my car when my neighbor..a police officer had his door open.. he has a very viscious failed police dog as a pet..who without warning came charging out of the house and knocked me to the ground. I was scared to move or make eye contact. His growling barking face was right next to mine so I braced myself thinking he was going to bite my face instead he took my arm and slung me from one end of the drive way to the other end. So on that day, Uranus was 7 degree pisces conjunct my 3 pisces moon in the 5th house. But it seems to me that 6th house would do with animals. Now does this transit along the same degree as this star that rules dog bites have any say in it? Also that day transiting Saturn was square my Natal Saturn, Pluto 6 degree conjunction to Mars..Mars was conjunct sun..sorry trying to find Arian energy here because of him being a police dog or I should say failed police dog..just wondering trying to understand if stars are important :) thanks

This though is fascinating..this article is GREAT ty.

Oh I just read on the internet that Steve Irwins progressed moon was conjunct Algol when he died. and they said this

Steve Irwin’s Progressed Sun at 17 Aries, on the fixed star Nodus Secundus (AKA the Great Serpent), which brings death by accidental poisoning. Robson says that ancient authors wrote “when a comet was [on Nodus Secundus], poison was scattered over the world.”

hmm I am definetly going to put my weight into fixed stars.

In my case Jupiter has an exact conjunction with Algol on 26 Taurus in the house of cash. How bad is it? The condition of Jupiter is rather okay. It has trine with Mercury and Venus and oppositon with the Moon.

Mr. Conjunct:

I wouldn't worry so much about the Jupiter/Algol conjunction, since you say Jupiter's condition is ok. I would watch the opposition between Algol and your Moon, though, as Algol it's said to act when conjunct to the Sun, the Moon or a malefic planet.

It's said as well, that only the conjunction and parallel are significant when considering the effects of Fixed Stars on the nativity, but I have examined a few charts of people whose deaths are linked to their heads somehow, and noticed that the opposition should be observed too. This may not be conclusive until an important number of charts have been analysed, but it's worth to pay attention to.

As an example: Grace Kelly had Algol opposing her Mars. She suffered a stroke as she was driving, lost control of her car, had an accident and died.

P.S. I don't mean to make you feel scared. Probably there is no reason to be scared, to begin with. I just want to share my findings regarding this subject, as I have felt intrigued by the Fixed Stars since the first time I heard of them.

This is just a guess in case you are married. The Moon symbolises the marriage partner in a man's chart. Be watchful of anything that could affect her. I have Algol opposing my Sun, and my husband has suffered 3 strokes so far, being the last one the most life-threatening of all. As you know, in a woman's chart, the Sun represents her husband.

Of course, there must be some others influences in the chart that channel the energies towards a negative event regarding the partner.

Interesting that prog Sun is on my Algol at the moment. Prog Sun is only 2 degrees from my ascendant and trine Jupiter in 4th. Jupiter rules the 8th.

Last week my Dad decided to have his heart valve opp. He is 77 yrs. I must admit to not seeing the best in this prog sun aspect. Normally Prog Sun trine Jupiter would be uplifting however not while Jupiter rules the 8th.

The progression is exact on christmas day. If you don't hear from me after the new year its because something went wrong with my prediction. I also have a health condition that involves Jupiter and I have an appointment with specialist later this week.

Recently I have seen how the prog sun conjunct Venus (ruler of 8th) produced a very unfortunate death. Perhaps I will attempt to stay out of trouble for the next 6 months or so.

It seems that there is a correlation to the Fixed Stars conjuncting the angles in the progressed chart as I had read about it here and then with a case recently where the Progressed Desendant was conjunt Algol and the person had a neck issue. He also at that time had Mars close to the ascendant in the 12th with Sn cj. the ascendant.

Anyways it is worth noteing and also the Sacred stars being conjunct angles at birth seem to have their effect for better or worst.

Not all things conjuncting Algol will bring misfortune. It does bring up cetain attributes for beter or worst also.

Many painters and creative people have this star conjunct planets or angles.Even Saints!

On 16 September 1982 (just in case anyone wants to look at the chart) my then boyfriend (Mike) was killed in a head on collision with a tank. He was riding a motorcycle. My Desc had progressed onto Algol, and I later learnt that he had been decapitated. The ruler of the desc (again Mike) had also progressed onto another malevolent fixed star Antares.

Having lived through that, I'm scared to see the thing on my asc for next year's Solar Return and on the MC of my husband's corresponding chart.

I have algol on the MC in my progressed natal conj. chiron opp, uranus....
I'm watching my head.

I've never looked at antares before, been staying out of the fixed star arena for a while now, but will add it to my list of malifics to watch out for....thanks for the info.

Take Care,
