Legal Career - Money & Good Fortune

I think you might do well as a legal assistant, but I don't think it would go much farther than that.

You need strong 7th/9th Houses and Mercury/Gemini, Venus/Libra, Jupiter/Sagittarius and Saturn in Capricorn, Aquarius or Libra well situated.

Mercury, Venus, Sun and Jupiter are elevated at the top of your chart. The Sun is actually in the 10th House.

The problem is Mercury/Venus are intercepted in Gemini in the 10th.

Jupiter is in Joy in the 9th but Combust the Sun. Your Mars is in Joy in the 6th House but Peregrine.

I agree with the outcome Bob came to, but perhaps I came to this via a different pathway. I cannot see how it is you came to get into the legal industry - your chart does not support it. It may give you a start in your working life, some money to buy stuff, but it is not something which will fulfill you for very long.

Your Taurus Sun in conjunct your Taurus Midheaven (MC) so you are no doubt interested in what you can gain out of any work you do - money and fame may be motivators for you whilst still young. In time that may begin to pale.

I'm interested in your unaspected Mercury in its own sign, but intercepted in the 10th house. In time this may be a driving force in your life. You need to express yourself in ways which you decide, rather than according to what others decide on your behalf. You are capable of being a maverick and a rebel, but that may take time for it to surface for you. Your work will need to be communication-rich, otherwise you will feel that something is missing.

Currently I'm working as a Legal Assistant and I'm wondering if this is a good career choice for me. I'm been working in the industry now for 3 years, and I've just started this job at new law firm. Being the Taurus that I am I want to know that I will be able to make lots of money and be successful in this industry. I'm wondering if you see this as a good career path. Does my chart indicate good fortune here?

I've attached my natal chart. I am a beginner and I am still in the process of trying to interpret my chart so please bear with me. I've also put up my houses. I'm interested in learning about what my houses mean and what they represent in my life. So if any of you guys see anything important please let me know. Thanks!

I don't see sun combust Jupiter a problem at all. Having 3planetsin 9th house naturally ruled by Saggi and covering the Law seems to meto be a good option.....

You may want to research your moon and pluto being singletons.

Firstly, for a proper evaluation you should consider posting your chart with progressions and transits on same wheel found in extended chart selection. Reduce the ratio of orbs to 80%, select smallest image size 63% on picture, then choose house system (my personal preference is for Equal house rather than the default of placidus), right mouse click and select 'save target pic as' and save to hard drive then upload here

. I've began to wonder if this path I've chosen is truly for me. I like what I do, but I'm not sure If I have what it takes to be successful in this industry. I DO NOT want to be a lawyer.

That's good. You could certainly make it through law school, but you'd have few options.

With Jupiter Combust and a Pisces 7th House, you just don't have that killer instinct and that would rule out criminal law or being a civil trial lawyer (a Sagittarius 7th House Cusp would make all the difference in the world).

If you were interested in something else, like probate or contract law (Jupiter is in the third house from the 7th House = contracts/documents) or even international law (Jupiter is in the 9th House) you might do well there, especially if you wanted to travel. At least with contract law, international law, and let's go ahead and say intellectual property law (Gemini/Mercury in 10th = fourth house from 7th House = other people's secrets -- especially government/corporate) and Jupiter (9th and third from 7th), well, Saturn in the 5th House so let's include entertainment law too, would allow you to use at least some of your creative abilities (and you do have some creative ability).

Like Raven said you have an unapsected Mercury, and you can pretty much do what you want (I have unapsected Mercury in Gemini ruling my 10th House).

If you're interested, then see if you can get into one of those departments in the law firm you work at, and if they don't have those departments then jump ship to one that does so you can at least get an idea of what goes on and whether or not it appeals to you.

Do you sing? You have Virgo on the 1st and 2nd House Cusps. Something in broadcasting, maybe advertising (writing or producing commercials). Do you speak a real foreign language (I don't consider Spanish to be a foreign language especially not as taught in the US)? You could apply to the Foreign Service agency. I was at US Embassy Mission Bucharesti and also in and out of US Consulate Berlin. Those people didn't follow any rules.

I don't pay much attention to the Outer Planets but with Uranus in Capricorn "rebel" is the last thing that comes to mind, especially in the 4th House. Yes, Uranus and Capricorn are sort of contradictory or conflicting, but that's rebellious in a constructive way, not a destructive way.

Thanks R4VEN and Bob, for your insightful answers. I came into the legal industry. Working from the ground up. I first started in college as a File Clerk, then moved my way up to a Records Clerk, and now I am a Legal Assistant. Since I'm about to graduate collage now. I've began to wonder if this path I've chosen is truly for me. I like what I do, but I'm not sure If I have what it takes to be successful in this industry. I DO NOT want to be a lawyer. At most, I was hoping eventually I could get promoted and become a Paralegal one day. But if a Legal Assistant is where you guys predict I will stay I am content. I understand that it just may not be in the cards for me. But I do agree with you R4VEN I am a Rebel, and at times I feel like this work doesn't fulfill my creative sides.. and I guess at times it does bug me that I must take orders from others.. But I figured this is a normal part of life, and I might as well get used to it..
Do NOT let astrologer limit your life in any way ---

Astrology can be used to help you in many ways. It can reveal damaging behavioral patterns or forewarn you of upcoming challenges. It can help you pinpoint latent talents you may possess and provide you with specific hints on how to best develop them. Astrology can also point out expansive, rewarding trends that are coming up and assist you in figuring out how to take advantage of them before they fade. Finally, astrology is an excellent means to determine the perfect timing for certain actions. http://www.cafeastrology.com/articles/whatastrologycandoforyou.html

The beauty of astrology is that it will help you to always be in complete control of your life. Astrology is not fortune telling: but it is a recognition that we have free will. We know we are not controlled by the planets, but the planets do create a certain atmospheres of constriction or ease, that keeps us on our toes. Alas, you cannot blame the planets and say, for example, Saturn made me do it! The few times I have said this to an audience, most people laugh it does sound funny.
http://www.cafeastrology.com/articles/whatastrologycandoforyou.html

The planets work to help us help ourselves. By applying pressure, planets help us to overcome inertia. At other times, they help us to see unproductive or even self-destructive behavior that we may have never noticed before but that we can fix. Astrologers believe we must be accountable for our actions and to recognize that we do have choices. The study of astrology will help you sort out all your options and to act at the proper time. http://www.cafeastrology.com/articles/whatastrologycandoforyou.html

The majority of legal work is bog standard domestic conveyancing, not litigation or barrister work. Having sun square mars = dogmatic assertive, mars square jupiter = confidence. If they applied themselves they could be successful in any venture involving the law...

I feel with moon in 9th house you *could* work and live abroad :innocent:

Anything 9th house would be appropriate

You could also research POF if you go back to astro, in extended chart selection, bottom left select part of fortune....

I have been looking at your chart when I have time. Using whole sign houses and other ancient methods, it appears very favorable for a legal career. First you have Mercury and Venus together in Gemini the 10th house. Mercury is the triplicity ruler of occupation in this chart. Also Mercury has dignity in domicile and Venus is in mutual reception with Saturn by triplicity. This signifies good fortune. Saturn itself is very strong in the 5th house. Planets in the 5th always provide some benefit to the native.

Mars is the third planet signifying occupation, and it is in its joy in the 6th house and its terms. Also it has a trine aspect with Venus and close aspects with the Sun and Moon. A well placed Mars is essential in legal if you take up cross-examination. Observe this in court sometime. And there is a famous book: The Art of Cross-Examination by Francis L. Wellman, Barnes & Noble, 1903 1992.

Jupiter is important in any question about a legal career. In your chart it is in its terms in the 9th house. This is an excellent position for any legal career. It is a little close to the Sun, but the Sun is in its joy here where it enlightens the mind. Also the Sun is in mutual reception with the Moon by exaltation which is considered very favorable.

If this were not enough, we must yet consider matters of the Hermetic Lots. The Lot of Mercury (Necessity) is at 24 deg. 4 min. Libra close trine to Mars and on Spica and Arcturus in the 2nd house. This indicates very good fortune in your career, and you will accumulate money. The Lot of Basis which is a combination of Fortune and Spirit is at 28 deg. 51 min. Libra close trine to Venus in the 2nd house. This is another very good indication of good fortune and prosperity. Thus there is every indication of success in a legal career however far you desire to pursue it.

Perhaps in the UK, but in the US you are required to specialize in a certain field of law if you want a future in law.

Once you pass the bar exam, you either specialize your practice in a certain area of state law, or you apply to and take the federal bar test and then you practice only in federal court, in which you you would practice only bankruptcy, or only federal criminal law (which is different than state laws) or patent law, or trade/commerce law or international law etc.

The volume of material published weekly in law journals is overwhelming and there is no way one person could master it, which is why attorneys specialize in one field then maybe work in one or two related fields.

Also in the US the money is in trial law and if you can't win a trial you won't go very far, especially since you need the support of a law firm to get your legal career off the ground, otherwise people end up as $15/hour collection attorneys (like my cousin).

I'm sure she doesn't want to amass $80,000 in student loans to work as collection attorney for $15/hour.

I know for you modernites everything is beautiful and peachy and every one can be president or prime minister the CEO of a huge multi-national corporation or a famous well internationally renown actor or singer who is loved by everyone in the universe, but the fact is her Mars is Peregrine, Jupiter is Combust and Venus and Mercury are intercepted and that has to be taken into consideration.

I feel with moon in 9th house you *could* work and live abroad

Lily says she'll end up somewhere outside the US. Fixed Signs usually indicate living abroad, Cardinal Signs for business or pleasure and Mutable for pleasure.

Moon/Mercury and 1st/9th Rulers tell the story.

It's Retrograde but other than that it's a really good placement for Saturn. It'll give her some organizational skills but those would be more related to creative endeavors than to the legal field. She would have the self-discipline to pursue something in media/broadcasting/entertainment.

You're using Egyptian Terms (so do I and Dorothean Triplicities for my own charts but Lily/Ptolemy for board stuff since that's what most people have access to).

That sort of raises an interesting question because by Ptolemy's Pterms Mars is Peregrine which would unfortunate the Part of Necessity, but by Egyptian Terms Mars is not Peregrine and would strengthen the Part.

So just out of curisoity, who does your legal domestic conveyancing in US? paralegals? Cos the majority of bread and butter work will be this not criminal/litigation work...

I LOVE TO SINGING. I sing almost everyday, and any chance I can get. What does virgo in my 1st and 2nd house mean?

It means you love singing. Virgo is one of the Beautiful Voice Signs. 1st House rules speech, 2nd House rules voice/vocal cords, ruler Mercury in Gemini in the 10th pretty much explains that.

That, plus the fact that Jupiter is in the 9th House (Broadcast Media) is why I suggested broadcast media. You'd do well in radio announcing, radio commercials, voice overs, singing radio jingles, television announcer, news presenter and any other such media. Even advertising, so long as it isn't print advertising

It seems I failed to mention the area of law I'm currently working in. I support 2 partner attorneys. One that specializes in Bankruptcy Law (corporate bankruptcy not individual bankruptcy). Then the other attorney handles Litigation and Dispute Resolution. These are both very opposite fields of legal work. However, I feel like I'm getting great exposure to the different aspects of law.

No kidding. The 8th House is other people's money. Jupiter rules that from the 9th House. In Taurus. I guess you could say you'd be competent, but might not excel at it. There's nothing wrong with that.

Mars is in your 6th House in Aquarius uh, okay that's a neutral sign for Mars, but Mars Joys in the 6th House and look how it sextiles the Moon and the Moon sextiles Venus which is in trine with Mars.

Mars in the 6th, you're going to work hard, and the Moon is what gives you that public exposure, because the Moon is the people; the masses and Venus is in and ruling the 10th (plus she's the dispositor of Jupiter). Jupiter is just outside of Combust but still Under Beams and Mecury/Venus in Gemini intercepted suggests something behind the scenes or hidden, like radio broadcasting.

As a lawyer doing bankruptcies, you'd probably get so bored you'd kick out your staff so you could stand at the copy machine and print up 175 stay orders for the 175 creditors your client owes money.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. People with Mutable Signs on the MC usually have more than one career, and a Mutable Sign on your 2nd House usually means your income will fluctuate throughout your life. Since Mercury is in Gemini and elevated, your income will tend to rise, not drop.

Moon is the Almuten/Ruler of your 11th House (that plus the sextile with Venus indicates popularity). The Sun is the dispositor of your PArt of Fortune and even though Sun is physically in the 9th House, anything within 5° of a Cusp is considered to be in the next House, so Sun is in 10th and conjunct the MC, and having a Luminary in an angle (preferably both Luminaries in Angles) is what gives you success/fame.

Saturn is actually in the 5th in Capricorn and Mars is the Almuten, Saturn trines your Ascendant and opposes Venus so that will give some structure and control over your creative powers, which is what singing requires (you know the little notes on the lines and stuff).

Right now Directed Saturn is trine natal Sun. When you are 29, you'll have some major changes in your life. Directed Jupiter will conjunct natal Mercury and then at the same time, Directed Mars will sextile natal Sun.

Be ready.

I'm thinking about looking into radio, or a career path that will utilize my natural voice talents.

Then you should do that, since your chart supports it. You have most of your Planets West, meaning you have little control over your life. You will always be at the mercy of others to open doors for you and move your career along. It might be your work, maybe doing a Chapter 11 for Clear Channel Radio or an advertising firm that opens the door for you into radio.
