Saturn Rx in Libra battling

Hi everyone,

I am on the verge of my Saturn Return and am looking for some hope... and honesty too. I have been going through a number of difficult Saturn transits since the middle of 2008. Needless to say I am feeling emotionally tired and drained. I would love nothing more than to run away and hide... till things *hopefully* normalize. As you can see from my chart I have Sun and Moon in Pisces and a Cancer rising - all this water does not give me much of a foundation to stand on and sometimes I feel like I am barely hanging onto my sanity by a thin thread.

Saturn has been cleaning house, that's for sure. I had crisis after crisis - a difficult breakup, tension with my siblings and parents, crisis of identity and my beliefs. I am still new to reading charts, but I would appreciate anyone helping me out by pointing out transits and aspects I should be aware of at this time.

Are some people permanently scarred for life when they go through their Saturn Return? I don't feel like the world as I know it will ever be the same again. I hope I can adjust to this new "me".... whoever she is.

Saturn is the great teacher. It throws situations and events at you that will help you to grow. If you resist those lessons then, yes, I guess you will be scarred by them until Saturn returns to that house in 28 years time. If you learn the lessons and adapt to how life is you will feel positive.

Typically with Saturn going direct, retrograde, direct; it will give you 3 opportunities to change.
- The first time you will probably be deeply affected by transit of Saturn. You will probably be faced by a situation and not know how to deal with it, so you will muddle through; it will feel horrible.
- Having had that experience, if you take the time and energy to reflect on what you could have had done differently you will probably be more successful in dealing with the second transit of Saturn to a planet or angle. Being more successful may mean that you don't have so much trauma, but things still go a bit wrong at the end.
- Further reflection on how you handle the situation and what you could do differently will put you in the position that when the third transit hits you will be able to see off the problem without issue.
- But if you just assume life is tough and you cannot adapt or change your reactions to handle it then you will have three very tough, bad experiences.

By way of example, I just recently had some serious issues with a certain person at work. Saturn has just moved into my sixth house. I realised that some of those issues came about because I don't confront things directly; I back off, have a think and then take a different approach. In this particular situation that approach would have sent the signal that if people challenge me they will get away with what they are doing. Saturn is teaching me that I have to go tell them directly how it's going to be. I'm expecting that I will get these kinds of situations fairly often during Saturn's stay in my sixth house because of the nature of my job. If I choose to stay with my usual behaviour and back down, my job is going to be very difficult. I'd probably get to the point where I hate it and look to leave. If I learn the lessons from Saturn and start confronting people (in an appropriate manner) I will go from strength to strength.

Interesting you should say this. I've been asking around about this because I have have been feeling very similar to the way you say in your post. Also my Mars is in pisces and I think it might have something to do with the major conjuction, Sun, Mercury and Uranus in pisces. I don't have a solid reason why, but I find it interesting that I'm feeling similar and we both have some major pisces placements being affected now.

Welcome to AW,

Curiously that stellium would all be in 8th house Equal house system and mercury in 7th. Your saturn is the least aspected planet with just conj Jupiter and quincunx to venus and ruling 7th house.

Saturn is the Lord of Karma and master teacher, but really he's trying to teach us about ourselves. It wants us to be responsible, hard working, dutiful and learn our Lessons properly, so they won't have to keep being repeated. Therefore, is usually suggests things slowing down, delays, limitations and restrictions so we can learn these Lessons.

What Saturn does is 'test' what is of value to you and what is working in your life. It wants structure and hard work. If something isn't working--- it may well end--- so something better can be put in it's place.

Saturn Return
Saturn takes 30 years or so to complete its circuit around the zodiac so events that occur around the age of 29-30, 58-59 and 84-87 will be of great significance to the native, depending on the strength and aspects to natal saturn.

Only 3more years and prog sun will conj MC -- a time when you should be 'shining' and acheiving.Another 16month prog moon will change from fiery Aries into practical taurus. In 4months prog moon will conj MC, are you poss thinking of changing jobs or house move?

When T mars goes over N Node you may get information, people, messages and indications of directions you need to go in.

T Saturn onto Jupiter creates a shall you shan't you. these two don't really get along that well, jupiter wants expansion and saturn wants the status quo. Is all about duty responsibility and hard work. Because these two are quincunxed venus in 8th house may well cause health strains, but ultimate transformations. You Soul chose many a difficult learning Lesson with 8th house

Whereas the 2nd house is our personal values and beliefs the 8th is 'other people's values and beliefs' and this is part of the Lesson, Test or Exam of having so many planets in 8th house.

Thank you for your answers. I am in such a different place mentally, emotionally and spiritually. It feels like it has all hit at once and I can barely hold up the weight. I realize that Saturn is the teacher and wants me to learn the lessons I have been running away from. It can just be so hard to know what to do. I know I will never be satisfied not pursuing my passions, but I feel so stuck. I hate feeling stuck.

Thorgrimr, I did just have Neptune squaring my Sun and Moon (both in Pisces) which I assume has been the source of my reality shaking. Annnnd well, reading up on the 8th house was pretty... heavy - I guess you could say. I am a sponge when it comes to people's emotions and can pick up on other people's vibes easily. I have been much more consumed with the worry of what comes after we die lately which I surprising to me. It was never something I used to think about really, at all - the great nothingness that I feel awaits us has become such a sad thought for me. I don't fear death as much as I fear losing my connection with others, of never again sharing moments of intimacy, of bonding with another soul. I am not sure what happens to our souls. The energy may dissipate, but I can only hope that our souls live on and can recognize each other's existence.

Thank you for your insight astrologer50, I have much to learn when it comes to astrology, but I have found that so far this is the absolute best method for understanding the inner workings of the deep, dark and sometimes scary places within me. I am still learning to read the charts, but I have a question as to how you can tell when a transit will become exact when the planets all seem to move at different speeds and change directions all the time. What do you look at in a chart to tell you specific times/dates?

I am feeling the weight of understanding my 8th house a little better. I there anyone out there who has similar house placements and can offer advice/hope/kind words? I am afraid the understanding just compounds my fears that "this is who I am" and maybe not so comfortable with this notion.

I use--- 1' approaching, 1' exact and 1' departing. If you click on the link listed below for the online ephemeris it will list all planets at any given time. Learning astrology is like learning a new ‘language’ and obviously the more effort you put into something the more your knowledge and understanding will increase. All transits act as ‘background’ influences through a house, until it makes a mathematical aspect to a planet inside or an Angle.

astro.com has fee six month transit forecast plus when you get into Extended chart selection, look at the three tabs after calculating a chart under ‘method’ default is circular wheels (on left), middle is special charts and in their you get graphic ephemeris 1yr (or 5years) with natal = transits for 1yr and lots more. BUT you first must learn or memorise the 'glyphs' ie: shorthand for recognising what these maps/graphics mean.

http://www.dkfoundation.co.uk/dkfoundation/BookTransitsAndProgressions.htm

Now it's more important to focus on transits from Jupiter to Pluto (poss mars as this is the ignition key)and these planets when aspecting something in your natal chart 'set off' the difficult or nice 'aspects - potential - problems' that your chart expresses. By that I mean if a benefic planet like Jupiter hits/touches/transits your venus, mars or uranus these could be experienced very pleasantly. BUT if your natal venus is afflicted, or badly aspected say conj saturn then jupiter will not has such a good effect. It all depends on how the natal planet is 'aspected'

For me I would say external 'events' must be seen by transits, progressions or Solar arcs to Angles ie: Asc/Desc & MC/IC most other times these events are 'internal, psychological matters as in between the ears'

This last website link is rather nice because it gives interpretations of what the ‘Lord’ of the house cusp ruler means ie: T Jupiter sextiles natal sun, so wherever Leo rules in your chart is connected to the area this transit will be affecting –

Hi everyone,

Some thoughts:

A saturn return merely means that saturn returns to where it was a birth. In some charts, Saturn is rather well placed by house, by sign and by aspects. In that case, when Saturn returns to the same place, it may reinforce things we already have learned and give us quiet support, even added stability.

In addition, other supportive transits may happen during our returns. Quite obviously *everyone* does not have a difficult time at around age 29.

Even those who have difficult returns are not "scarred" unless they resist the lessons they need to learn.

Mewski, I am going to make a guess, which I don't usually do, that you are a people pleaser. I guess this from your planets in Pisces (generally a gentle, giving and sometimes a self-sacrificing sign) *and* from Saturn both conjunct Jupiter (a reall "push-pull" making it hard to balance the need for freedom and responsibility) and inconjunct Venus you could very easily allow yourself to be treated like a door-mat. If this is so, your Saturn return, which will not actually occur for the first time until October 2010, will make it very clear that you need to set clearer boundaries.

Please let me know if what I said makes sense *or* it simply misses the mark...

Wow, this is a lot of information! Thank you for taking the time to respond to me, you are all so kind. I will have to spend some time reading over these in greater depth. Doing better today and feeling a little bit stronger! I think I need to study up more on the significance of the solar return. I have not even tried to figure out how to read a solar return chart as of yet.

Would this be the chart one would look at?
