Is Astrology a Religion?

Great fun, Jup, i love your humour, however i'm getting slightly worried about you on another thread in this forum section,
you seem to be agreeing again with Lady Waybread,
you know you don't do that,
it is unacceptable,
i'm not even sure if you are blowing kisses ha ha!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Co6sXBuGp80

I'll have to get serious again on next thread section,
after all it isn't my thread!
Lady Waybread and myself are close to agreeing on how many angels can dance on the end of a pin Monk
but so far it hasn't happened yet
and the odds are long

And on this thread,
did anyone define "religion" as yet in such a way that all of us are in agreement?

Touchy subject, religion, which is why we create humour!

Hell i'm not trying to be a moderator, the job is beyond me, anyway i like our crocodile moderator, he doesn't bite that often!

Okay David, i have posted many pictures to outside links that are now void, frankly i find it a little suspicious, but you did have a question, so being wary as all outside this forum can read comments, i would choose a good astronomy forum, where they might have better software than i and join it, pose the question you ask there!

DON'T tell that you are an astrologer, you don't want a response of a bull dog chewing a wasp Ha Ha!

I did say i would post info about the Terrorist Suicide Attempt in Paris on 7th January, i think i'll post it on my main thread, it connects to my other information.

Monk, I actually sent JA a kiss smilie once  when he seemed to agree with something I said. But the shock must have been too great for him, as he backed off in his next post. Occasionally I hit the "Thanks" button for something he posts. It's been known to happen.

Hi Lady Waybread,

I might not agree with you or will agree, obviously i did put my learned friend at stress, it is at throw of dice, but love humour when NICE to bring us together, i will always leave room to Poke fun at myself, thats easy in an astrology forum, sadly i don't fit in any forum, i'm half way, being an archaeoastronomer, EEK, an astronomer!!

Sadly i have sympathy with both, so don't really fit in anywhere, sob!

But have a lot to say with dispute with anything to do with stars.

I like free programmes obviously, i'm poor and disabled/deformed like the Hunchback of classical books, i was ok once, where you might have sent me a forum kiss, truth and jokes, what is ironic joke and truth!

Could i be an astrologer, i did go to Faculty of Astrological studies:-

http://www.astrology.org.uk/

I swear i did go there!

I did go to many expensive schools once, like College of Psychic Studies, i'm a hybrid! Sadly i'm now disabled, so expense of continuing is a problem!

All these schools are very expensive, in the end i might sit inbetween, software to Solar Fire is expensive that has faults!

https://alabe.com/solargold.html

I'm not really interested in sign cusps, but really am about Projected or Parans regarding Fixed Stars!

I like it to be accurate, to astronomy, Sign Cusps doesn't interest me, i'll continue soon!

Please note, Lady Waybread, i like your humour if someone starts it, but with Pluto you go for modernism, which i respect, indeed it was how i was taught, but i can change my mind with debate!

Pluto as a reference was only with us from 1930's until recently, however i'm not saying J.A. is right!

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/modernism

Some say that Traditionism regarding astrology is wrong?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traditionalism

We must respect old posters from both camps and agree to dis-agree!!!

Secretly i'm jealous, that you once gave J.A. a forum kiss, obviously the hunchback doesn't get one...sob!

Lady Waybread will not give a kiss for long sadly, like Esmeralda, without jokes, i do look like "Quasimodo NOW"

I love my classics, you have to know when my jokes are not in place, sob!

Obviously i'm a monkey, it is up to you to know "Monkey Tricks!", some of what i tell are jokes, perhaps my disablement is true?

Some will know about "Bamboo Spine", but i will still laugh!

I need to sleep now, but David Starling with thread, must be wondering what happened with title?

Yes i have been involved in "monkey Business", but more good astrologers are looking at what you wrote "Is Astrology a Religion?"

I would say that religion has involved itself in electional astrology, i would say you are right by looking in a mirror!

No more Monkey tricks, jokes and trying to get other minds involved, when i have had sleep, we will "LETS GET SERIOUS" regarding topic!

loved your question... I started at the reference beginning... the definition of religion "the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power". To me belief is based on guidance of the soul/individual... so I'd agree with some of the other previous posts regarding a mixture of astrology, planets, gods, etc. To me any thing/power/one that is consulted by a truly believing soul/individual to buildup/support further beliefs/health can be look on with reverent eyes. I've studied different religions and submerged myself in them for years. Just posing the question would bring anger to many devoted to one religion... but I've had questions since I was 8 years old such as if I was born into a Catholic or Muslim practicing family would I choose to be Catholic or Muslim? Based on exposure??? So I gained some exposure. I was lucky in that I was raised native American Indian and have a healthy respect and reverence for nature. I've chosen to go with the universal truths. Seems to me that naming a religion seems to almost be a sin in that it judges everyone else to be less than. Plus nature/astrology/astronomy has yielded so many answers to so many: agriculture, medicine, marriages, conflicts... how can one ignore the stars?

David Starling poses a big question, please note i might choose a different criteria for myself to answer, BUT IS STILL DAVID'S THREAD, who i respect, so his criteria to answer question may be different, HOWEVER IT TAKES A LOT OF GOOD PEOPLE to answer!!

My first post now after InTheCTGarden post has changed, i need to help him continue research!

He comes from the "Indigenous People of the America's", although there can be "Ethenicity" regarding groups, he may have difficulty regarding this in breaking down the truth regarding groups, but you may trust him to try!

Private message Lady Waybread to help you understand Western concepts regarding ancient and modern!

Ancient concepts from Indigenious peoples of America below, please look at Chinook Tribe, regarding "CANOE RACE" and ORION'S Belt.

However i'm confused by "Two Dogs" by Cherokee Tribe, they mention Sirius as a dog and Soul:-

In all different parts of the world in ancient cultures the dog or wolf has come up in myths regarding Sirius, yet were separate from each other!

America is shown to be the new world, try to find out if Two Dogs superstition was there before "EARLY EUROPEAN COLONISTS"

Were Indigenous Americans influenced by early European Colonists regarding Greek myths and classical education?

Canis Major is a Greek Myth for a DOG, i would be interested if the Cherokee Myth pre-dates western european colonists!

I might be an astronomer perhaps YIKES for astrologers, but i will pose questions, even the ancient Chinese thought of Sirius as a "Celestial Wolf", not much difference to a "DOG".

Were there ancient contact across Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, that blended ancient cultures and superstition???

Please help LADY, i'm not interested in your age, it wouldn't be polite, but i guess you come from an era, that you remember your mother giving you a kids dot by dot pictures & puzzles book when you were very young!

http://www.bubhub.com.au/free-kids-dot-to-dot-pictures.php

Don't ask me how the Greeks found a Dog Picture in the stars, so many of them! But if separate cultures found the same, it is something to investigate?

Beware Greeks bearing gifts and Aquarius blowing kisses

Meanwhile Monk, back at the ranch
Sirius continues ubiquitous

0_Sirius.jpg

In THE TRUMAN SHOW, a spotlight – used to imitate light of a star in Truman’s fake world
– falls from the sky and nearly hits him. The label on the spotlight
identifies it as Sirius. Truman’s encounter with Sirius
gives him a glimpse of “true knowledge” and prompts his quest for truth. Sirius is therefore the “star of initiation”.
It caused Truman to realize the limitations of his studio world
(our material world) and led him to freedom (spiritual emancipation)

Hi Monk

reference to title of this thread
and
potential connection of Astrology with Religion
note the passing of Acharya S aka D M Murdock on 25 December 2015
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acharya_S

1 November 2014 = Scholar/teacher D.M. Murdock (AKA Acharya S) discusses ancient mythologies
and how the more modern religions are in fact based on these ancient myths.
D.M. discusses astrotheology, mythicism and ancient motifs found throughout many varying cultures of antiquity
and points out the personification of astronomical and astrological events expressed as deity by the ancients.

Hi Jup,

Sorry about the LADY, but she has knowledge, i need to get the best out of her without "Sword Fights".

She is old school in nature, But with a modern twist, i like her and look forward to her comments, however she can kill with whip-lash tongue, so i will be very polite, which is my nature anyway, being English!

I'm not worried about you, we have monkey sword fights all the time, but i will always be polite to the Lady, i'm English!
