Hurricane Harvey

Hi all I saw a thread on another section on the forum correlating hurricane Harvey that just hit Texas to the recent eclipse.
My family's home was hit directly and they still have no electricity. My mom and brother are safe though. But we also have family in Houston

Anyway will there be any more damaging storms like Harvey in the near future?

Re: Hurricane Harvey

keep in mind that currently as well
FLOODS IN INDIA, BANGLADESH & NEPAL KILLED 1,200
AND MILLIONS ARE HOMELESS
in one of the worst flooding disasters to have affected the region in years.

International aid agencies said thousands of villages have been cut off by flooding

with people being deprived of food and clean water for days.
South Asia suffers from frequent flooding during the monsoon season
which lasts from June to September, but authorities have said
this year's floods have been much worse.

The above, taken together with Harvey, find indication in the August 21 total solar eclipse being in the late degrees (28th) of Leo: al-Biruni (1050 CE) describes the weather effects of the "third part" (last 10 degrees) of Leo as "destructive moisture" (see al-Biruni's "Elements")

Interesting so it was a one time deal and shouldn't be an ongoing fear until hurricane season ends I guess
It's so crazy cuz it was so exciting that we could see this major eclipse in the US finally and bam this happens!

There's even deadly flooding in Mumbai and I thought it was such a weird coincidence. Now I get why

Re: Hurricane Harvey

For each degree Celsius of warming
the atmosphere is able to hold 6% more water.
A warming by 4 degrees by the end of the century means
a transition to a profoundly different climate.

THE STRANGE FUTURE THAT HURRICANE HARVEY PORTENDS
https://www.theatlantic.com/science/...rtends/538557/

“Rainfall extremes have increased in intensity

I think at every latitude in the northern hemisphere,”
says Massachusetts Institute of Technology climate scientist Paul O’Gorman.

In 2012, a study
led by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory oceanographer Paul Durack
found that the global water cycle was actually speeding up
at twice the rate predicted by climate models
likely intensifying by 16 to 24 percent by the end of the century.
There will be ever wilder extremes in drought and aridity

Re: Hurricane Harvey

Flooding in India is a common phenomenon. A couple of years ago, it was Chennai, a south Indian city. This year it is Mumbai. And if it is a non-metropolis, we won't even know. Though Houston flooding is rare and is a catastrophe, the Indian floods are a common thing. And the government at least IMO does absolutely nothing to avoid future flooding. The flooding is basically due to poor infrastructure and improper planning.

I am glad you all are safe in this tough times. God bless you all
